    Meet Ruby

Well, I picked up my new Specialized Ruby Expert on Saturday. My first road bike! I was able to take her out on both Saturday and Sunday. I absolutely love this bike. The fit is perfect thanks to the LBS guy who has spent quite a bit of time with me getting her all set. Now I can't wait for spring to get here so I can ride more - the trainer in the garage just isn't the same!

    Beeeyouteefulll!

I am trying to choose between the Ruby Expert and the Trek Madone 5.1 I need to decide within the next month or so. The Ruby is in the lead at the moment.

I know you will love her as much as I do mine.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful ride there! I love the look of the white accents (just be warned that the sleek white handlebar tape can get grungy pretty quick)

When and where is the inaugural ride, then?

kelownagirl - I'm 5'0" and ended up with the 48 not the 44. It was a bit of a surprise since I usually end up on the smallest bike I can find. The lbs guy who spent a lot of time with me on fitting said I had a "long torso" - at 5'0" - I don't think I've ever been described as having a long anything. It made me very happy! I did sit on a 44 at another shop and my first impresssion (this was even before I test rode the 48) was that I was too far out over the handlebars. The fit does seem right to me.

I was able to ride both Saturday and Sunday - and actually got in almost 20 miles on Sunday which is pretty good for me since I'm new to a road bike and I haven't ridden my hybrid much this fall/winter.

Gnat23 - yes, the white tape concerned me too. And although I like the look I decided to swap out the saddle for black as well. But the shop didn't have my size in stock in black so, I'm going back on Saturday and they will change out the tape and saddle for me. The funny thing was I was obsessing on the white getting dirty and on my first ride on Saturday a bird got me. White bird poop all over the black cables! I had to laugh.

Lovely! Lovely!!! I also have a Ruby and absolutely LOVE it. Mine has white bar tape also and yes it gets dirty right away. I had a great silver tape on my Dolce (replaced by the Ruby) and Specialized does not offer it anymore. I rather have the grey instead of back. Silver sent me the name of a company that offers silver bar tape, but I have yet to order it.

Sending many happy and safe riding miles your way with your new bike!!!
