Mt Hamilton on Sunday Feb. 6

    Hi everyone -

My husband & I will be riding up Mt Hamilton tomorrow (Sunday Feb. 6) and anyone is welcome to join us.

We'll park at the small turn-out at the corner of Alum Rock Ave. & Mt. Hamilton Road. Mt. Hamilton Road begins at this intersection, and on the opposite side of Alum Rock is an area where (it appears) one can legally park.

Get there by taking I-680 to Alum Rock Ave (CA 130), which is at the northern end of San Jose, and head east on Alum Rock until you get to Mt. Hamilton Road.

If this parking area is already full, we'll park in front of Linda Vista School which is about a mile from this intersection, directions here:
    http://bikemaster.home.att.net/routes/lvs_list.htm

Either way, we plan to start out at 9:30. If you're in decent shape, if you start later you're bound to catch up to us in no time.

Here's the route- it's pretty straightforward - up Mt. Hamilton Road to the observatory, then head back down ! If we start at the corner of Alum Rock & Mt. Hamilton that reduces the ride by 1 mile in each direction. http://bikemaster.home.att.net/routes/lvs002.txt

Lee & I are going to be our pokey old selves, with lots of short stops. If you're faster than us, fine, wave hi as you pass us on the way back down. We might look around the observatory a bit, or not. Bring snacks, and warmer clothing for the ride down. There are a couple of park turn-outs along the way with water & portapotties.

Yes, we did! I am happy to report a sighting of the pink cashmere jersey with lipstick! Of course, it was always going up the hill way in front of me (with it's mate's retro wool jersey). The hubby of our 3rd couple brought his digital camera so I hope to post a link soon.

We had lots of fun. So, now I've at least met one of you! 1 down, 5 to go.

Yep, it was very pretty. Some VERY challenging hills, lots of cows - but soooo green. We'll be heading back there.

Not sure what we're going to do today. Thom mentioned choosing flooring.... but it's going to be sunny again! Of course I have to watch the Superbowl. I am not a big football fan - I've seen one game so far this season- but I am a transplanted Maniac (person born in Maine) and so feel compelled.

Enjoy the mountain. It looks to be a spectacular day!

Normal Schedule - week days the alarm goes off at 4:15. No alarm on the weekend, but I still usually wake up before 5.
