As a self-proclaimed 'hill slug' I got a good chuckle out of this. Thought you all would, too.

A few months ago I participated in a ride that was orgainized by a young man for his eagle scout project. It was only 40 miles, and I had asked about the elevation of the route and was told that the ride was mostly flat/some rolling hills, which is usually the type of riding I do.

As I was talking to some of the people before we started (moderate turnout...only about 15 people, but a well supported ride, over-all), I was clued in that there may be 'just one' larger hill...but it 'wasn't too bad'.

Holy cow!! I bet that hill was over a mile long (seemed like five!). I thought I was gonna puke! I kept telling myself that if I got off, I'd have to walk the rest of the way up because there was NO WAY I could get going again. I did it, but was cursing the poor boy that organized the ride the whole way...hehe.

That may not seem huge to most of the posters here, but sheesh...when you've got about 100 extra pounds of 'junk in your trunk' to haul up the hill...it's a big deal! LOL!

Congrats to you for conquering Emigration Canyon!
