I just wanted to share the small change i felt in the weather today while i was riding.
The light seems different to me, it seems a bit darker, the air a bit cooler. I see birds less and less now which makes me sad. I do love to see them sitting on the farm fences as I pass. But there was a peregrine falcon though who was trying to pick up a huge potatoe bug then I showed up. So he just sat on the fence till I passed. Then in my bike mirror I saw him dive back on the road and pick up he's lunch.
The air smells a bit different too. We are supposed to get a storm here in Cali. And since it has been so long since the last time it rained here, maybe that is what I am senceing and not fall. I like to think it is fall but gosh knows we REALLY need rain here as well as other parts of the country.
Does anyone else notice the changing weather too?
Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Brrrrrrr Brrrrrrr BRRRRRR! My quickie ride this morning was COLD! It feels like November here, not September. It was about 45 degrees out, which isn't really that cold, but my body isn't used to it yet! Brrrrrr! Oh, did I already say that? I do love fall though, and I'm looking forward to cooler weather. It was a beautiful morning for a ride, and I enjoyed the crisp air. Plus I got to try out my wool socks, new fleece-lined tights, and thermal jersey. I discovered that I definitely need some full-finger gloves.

After a good breakfast of eggs, croissant and latte, DH and I got out early on this brisk sunny Autumn morning at 50 degrees. My favorite regular 21 mile loop ride.

The sun slanted all golden across a field, backlighting black Angus cows with their calves nursing. Their breath steamed in the cold air. Blue heron on a green pond. Crows barking angrily over the cut cornfields with row upon row of dry yellow stumps. Squirrels rattling around in the brown forest leaves burying butternuts. A brown cottontail scampering across our path. Trees arched over the back country roads....
