Hi, all.
I'm new to the forum, although I have been lurking here, and I've gotten some great advice, so I decided to officially register.
Now to my question: I got a pair of Sidi Bullets last week, a size 40 women's. My regular shoe size is 6-1/2 wide. I had been getting hot foot and toe numbness and pain with my previous shoes, so I thought it was time for a new pair. I'm finding with the Sidis that the tongue seems to be pressing into my toes and arch, and I'm still getting toe pain. Could this be because of the tongue? Would I be better off with a different size? (I tried the 40.5, and they were too big.) Or should I try the Dominators?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jo

I second Salsa. They are quite narrow. Regardless, the tongue shouldn't touch your arch though. I do find the tongue is long and rides up the front of my leg a bit. I know womens Nike's have a much wider toe box so maybe a different brand would be more comfortable if the mens version doesn't fit for you.

I would try a different model. When you wear a mans shoe to accommodate width you might lose proper heel fit. Womens feet, even when wide, still tend to retain a narrower heel

Silly me - I meant the tongue is pressing against my instep, not arch.
Thanks for your advice.

sorry to hijack the thread a bit... but on the question of sizing.... do you all find that you wear a larger size in the Sidis???? I tried some on in my regular size this weekend (they were a tad short) and am going to have to guess at the size based on what I tried on and it seems I need to order .5 larger... is this typical?
tprevost, yes, I believe it is

I agree. I normally wear a 41 or 42 in Euro sizes just call me Sasquach but when I recently bought a pair of Sidi Dominators I had to get a 42.5![]()
I have had similar foot problems. Sidis were too narrow for me. I now wear a pair of men's Lake shoes size 40. The men's have a D width. the women's are a B. They even have a wider variety available in men's sizes.
There are the Sidis Megas, but could never find them in my size.
take care of your feet and get the right shoes.

I had problems with the tongue of the Sidis cutting into the top of my instep too. I just cut the litle slots at the top of the tongue a lettle deeper and that solved the problem.
You might try one of the SIDI models (there's only one or two, however) for women that come in a "mega" or extra-wide version. Otherwise, I'd suggest trying to shoe that is known for having a slightly wider toe box. I've heard Carnacs do, but I'm never tried them myself.
SIDIs reputably run small. Just about everyone I've talked to had to go up a size from what they would normally wear.

A key thing to know about sidi sizing is that they use half sizes to indicate a wider width, i.e. a 42 and 42.5 are the same length, but the 42.5 indicates that it has a wider width. So, if a 42 is too short bud width is good, you need to try a 43 not a 42.5.
