Has anyone ever been on the road fro Nisqually to Paradise at Mt. Ranier? I was wondering how it would be for biking? Is it paved all the way?

I have when I did the RAMROD in 2004. From the park entrance to the top of paradise (if I recollect correctly is about 20 miles). And it's all up hill (yes paved). But it's very winding and very steep with a very narrow road (no shoulders to speak of). First part is cool and beautiful with old growth forest. Crossing the Nisqually River is quite a view. If you like to climb it's the ride for you.

    That's what I was thinking...

Thanks for the information Susan. It's always nice to hear from someone who has already done the ride.

Are you considering doing the ride, Nicole? I just remembered the floods from this past winter. Please check with the National Park web site and see what the road conditions are before you try cycling up there.

I believe Longmire to Paradise is ok. But Steven's Canyon Road is definitely closed. Also I think they are doing some construction at Paradise
