I didn't go double to triple. However, I did go from Sora to 105. It was a small learning curve for me using the shifters. Lucky HoopRide!

So, a customer of the bf's isn't digging the new SRAM so he's putting Campy back on his bike. The bf is putting the SRAM on his bike and I'm getting his hand me down DA. My components will officially cost more than my bike when I bought it new!
I ride a 2003 Trek 1000. She's my commuting bike, everyday bike, and race bike all rolled into one. I had planned on a new Diva for this spring but my car broke down and took all my spare chnage to fix.Next tax season, I'll get the new ride.
I'm excited but nervous. I'm so use to my Sora triple and don't really know what to expect. I'm racing this weekend and we're going to wait until after the race to put the new stuff on. We did a really challenging hill route today and I made sure not to granny anything but I know there will be times I will want it back.
Those that have gone from a triple to a regular double, how did you fair?

I went from a triple to a standard double...then to a compact crank. I did just a couple of challenging mountain rides 6000+ elevation gain on the standard, but my plans for the season included centuries with 12,500+ of gain, some with some pretty steep grades, so I wanted the extra climbing gears. I guess it would depend on what kind of riding you're doing...there are moments during certain rides that I wish for a triple, but I know I wouldn't use it that much.
