    Allow me to introduce myself

Hi guys. I've been lurking around this site for a week or two, posting some, but thought I'd officially introduce myself. My husband has been an avid cyclist for some time and sucked me into getting a tandem last Fall. We ride a Burley Rivazza. I love it and have since decided I was ready for my own single. I guess I'm spoiled rotten because I'm getting a pretty sweet bike for my very first single. My husband ordered me a Cannondale CAAD 9 frame and I'm getting all the Dura Ace components from his last bike. He has, of course, upgraded himself to an even BETTER Cannondale for even better climbing power. (Tied for 15th place out of 337 riders at the century he did on Saturday .... I have to brag on him! )

Anyways, my frame was ordered 4 weeks ago now and I'm going to completely flip out and go psychotic if it doesn't come in soon! The guy at my LBS said it shouldn't be more than a week, but maybe sooner. We're getting a sweet deal, so I'm trying to be patient and not call him every five minutes asking, "Is it in now?!" .... "How 'bout NOW?!!!" .... "NOW???"

I've enjoyed reading your posts and learning more about this crazy exciting sport through other women. It seems to be a male dominated sport, so it's fun to interact with lots of other female types!

We're not all necessarily girly girls here. Welcome to TE. I'm a happily married woman with two grown sons but I've never been a girly girl.
Congrats on the new bike. I have been waiting for 3 months for MY new bike frame, it just seems like FOREVER.
We ride a Burley Rock and Roll tandem too.
It is great to be able to come here and hang out with women who know biking and there's no male experts on here telling us what for.

    Welcome to TE

    Welcome Jiffer,
I'm again jealous of all those who have the chance to buy a new bike, especially with a nice set of dura ace to boot . The ladies here have lots of different points of view on stuff and helpful info as well, so any questions can be answered (or pretty darn close).

    Thanks guys.

Mimitabby, I had a feeling I'd get a comment on my "girly girl" thing. It was simply my silly way of saying "women". I edited my post, so as not to offend anyone!

It's great to chat with another tandem rider. There should be a tandem forum on this site. Maybe I'll suggest it. Do you know if anyone has?

I know what you mean about coming here where there aren't any male experts telling us what for! My husband deems himself the expert on pretty much everything and loves to tell everyone how to do everything. I am blessed to have him to teach me all about cycling, but I love coming here and getting other people's perspectives, especially women.

    you didn't offend me, Jiffer!

We had a thread a while back about who were girly girls and who were Tom boys, and we found an amazing array of different kinds of women here; from the ones who do their nails and makeup and have all pink bike stuff, to the ones
    who are, well, quite butch.

and we are all a little different and have different insights on stuff.
Men are allowed on here, but they never dominate or we put them in their place.

We don't have a tandem "forum" here, but you can always start a tandem thread if you want...
