In my never-ending quest to fill my basement with bicycles, I've got another one in working order--a 1986 pink Bridgestone 300 mixte. I bought it several months ago on Craigslist, intending to work on it myself and make it into a commuting bike. Well, one thing led to another and I bought a Rivendell Glorius for commuting instead, and I decided that I'm not all that interested in learning how to do bike maintenance.
The only way this bike would work for me as a grocery store bike in the hilly area where I live is to have a triple; it came with a double. So I took it to my fantastic LBS, and the fantastic mechanic there found a place that had the third chainring, so now it's a 32-42-52. He also added a taller stem that he had laying around, so I could raise the bars high enough.
This morning I rode it to the hardware store up the street to get some keys made--no shorts, no gloves, no bike shoes. Just a helmet and sandals (and clothes of course). It was great! Once I get a rack, I'll be buying groceries on it. But the saddle has got to go...it was like riding with a pillow shoved between my legs. Ugh.
Ain't she sweet?![]()

What a beautiful bike!
congrats. I hope you find THE saddle for it soon. Check ebay for old Brooks saddles?
Very Very nice....I just put a rack on my Sirrus to use as a commute to the train and errand bike.
However, I feel like have to put a set of Speedplay Frogs on it also because I am so use to riding my road bike with them. It now feel too weird to ride with sneakers.

You are too funny!
I guess this is your "spare" commuter you mentioned??
Slick little buggy. Have fun with your new/old grocery getter!
And, yeah....I think a Brooks would look right at home on that bike.

Nice! I'm looking for an inexpensive saddle for my grocery bike too. Let me know what you do on the front (or rear).
I love it!
Have you gotten it rigged out for shopping, yet?
More pictures when you do, please!
