Red face Feeling better, what do you think?

Well, even though it is day 3 I took a shower really cleaned things up and re-bandged everything and took my daughter out for a very SLOW stroll. I'm still hurting my knee is the worse but it's getting better. It's just kind of hard with people staring at my face like OMG... Anyway, I'm going crazy, and am thinking about just getting on the spin bike tomorrow and just spin...take it easy, nothing crazy....do ya'll think it's too soon. I feel that I almost need to do it for the wound on my knee so that the skin doesn't atrophy or get tight even though I'm keeping it moist and using alot of natural aloe.
I wanted to thank you all again for the words of encouragement it has really meant alot. I'm also getting the book that was mentioned ordered on half.com today.

Did the doc recommend any physical therapy or anything?

oh jenn, i forgot to tell you! go and get Advanced Healing bandages made by johnson & johnson(or something similar). They a) reduce the pain b) keep it from scarring badly!!

    Trust me they work!!

The Dr said whenever I felt up to it but to take it slow, and probably just stay on my Spinning bike for now.
Erica, I did get those bandages for my knee they are great!
It's just the skin is tight where it was busted open but I keep putting ointment on it and figure, if I spin slow it'll be ok, I HAVE to do something.

Especially 'cause the doc said so, I'd say get on the thing and give the body what it is accustomed to - exercise. Just be sure to listen to that body too

I'd say: do what feels good for you. Take it easy, give your body time to respond.

    Jenn,
I saw your photos, ouch! As for exercising follow your doctor's advise and definitely listen to your body. It is working hard to heal your wounds.

    Hey Jenn,

Some advice based on personal experience....do less than you want to the first few times. For example, if you were planning on doing 1/2 an hour of spinning, do 15 minutes the first day. In other words, don't overdo it. There's no benefit from it, and if you start really slow, you can see whether it'll help or hurt. Let us know how it goes.

I have to totally second this opinion. Your accident sounded nasty, I hope you heal fast.

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better. Just be careful you don't overdo things.

Unhappy I THOUGHT I was doing better.

I'm sure ya'll are sick of hearing about my drama, but I have to ask ya'll what I should do. I wen't to the E.R. at 5:30pm last night because even with all the care I've given my wounds I could see they were getting very swollen, hot and VERY red....and EXTREMELY painful....(INFECTION!!)
Anyway, I get in there, they insist on doing a whole nother round of X-Rays and another CT of my head. 7 HOURS later, they come in tell me eveything looks fine, but now I have cellulitis starting in my knee and arm and my site's have to be debrided. OMG NO pain medication was EVER offered to me which I don't like to take it anyway, but when they cleaned out my wounds....I would have taken ANYTHING. So it was 2AM by they time I got home. The E.R. was dead, the Techs were RUDE. So, do I bother writing a letter of complaint and to whom would I write it? Would they even care? Not once was I asked if I needed anything, I sat in the room and stared at the wall in pain for 7 hours. Don't you go to the hospital for relief?? Oh, and finally, EVERYONE that heard I was in a biking accident told me to stay off of MOTORCYCLES!!!

    Hey Jenn,
Step back and look at the big picture- no concussion, no broken bones or cracked skull, didn't get RUN OVER by the car that turned in front of you. Bike is ok too. I'd say you were pretty lucky- this time.
You'll probably be on your bike again in a couple of weeks!

Good that you went and had your wounds cleaned by the pros, and good that you had more xrays just to be sure they hadn't missed anything.
