They basically say it could have been better. The video clip is pretty funny, though.

Tell us what you thought of the book, PinkBike.
"How about if we all just try to follow these very simple rules of the road? Drive like the person ahead on the bike is your son/daughter. Ride like the cars are ambulances carrying your loved ones to the emergency room. This should cover everything, unless you are a complete sociopath."

the book was kinda disturbing, as it was mostly about his bipolar disorder and how it related to his sport, his relationships and his self-image. but it held me, i read it straight thru last weekend in every spare moment i could capture. for a guy doing that much suffering he seems to have a very wry wit.

It opened here on April 25th (ANZAC Day). My son went and saw it with my parents - the rest of us haven't had a chance to see it yet.

My son knew the story well, and said it was really a very good movie.

He wondered if, because it was based on an autobiography, that the authorities were made out to be "bad guys" more than they actually were.

He also said the "superman" position was not as stretched out as Obree actually was (even though Obree did some of the stunt work).

I think my son was impressed that such a well-made and scripted movie could be done based on a book - so often the movie doesn't do the book / real story justice.

The hubby and I went to see this tonight. We throughly enjoyed it, though I'm guessing its not going to be a geat money maker - we had the theater completely to ourselves, nice and not so nice in some ways. Nice for us, but it certainly won't encourage folks to make more cycling movies....

We love the sport and couldn't help but enjoy the movie, but I guess that it must be a little to cycling centric to appeal to a mass audience. Of course Chariots of Fire was a very popular movie and I know that it didn't just appeal to runners, so I wonder how this movie could be marketed to a wider audience?
