Got the XL and they fit. They arrived just in time for my tri camp.
I am sure there is a huge difference between the L and the XL so there's something weird with their sizing.

Doh.
I ordered Sugoi Piston tri shorts, first in small because it said they were for people 172 tall which I am. I could hardly get them over my hips. I got mens because it did not say the womens had the little pockets.
I exchanged them for large and they still make my legs look flabby where they end. Prolly my stomach flab will also show with the sports top I plan to wear. eeks![]()
Should I exchange again, for XL? Who on earth can wear these things? I am not that large!
It's a little secret you didn't know about us women. We're all closet Visigoths.

My women's Piston shorts have the pocket.
However be aware the as you swim (especially in a pool swim where you push off from a wall) your shorts' waist might be tempted to visit your hips.
Make sure you draw that string tight enough. I almost lost my (well fitting) shorts on my first triathlon! (or so did it feel)
