It refers to that model having suspension on the rear of the bike. The "regular" pilots don't have suspension.
Maybe suspension probably added?

SPA (Suspension Performance Advantage) system. I looked on the Trek site also and couldn't find it. Last year they had a video describing it. I hope that's not an indicatation of end of life for the product since I have a 2006 Pilot 5.2 s.p.a.! Originally Posted by zencentury
