    Unhappy Friday the 13th!

THAT would explain why the weather is so crappy that I can't go out and ride!

Hmmm. Decent weather here but I'm stuck at work! That's always the way, isn't it.

I don't think we had spring like weather since spring began. This is not a good way to begin the "season". In fact, this might last through Tuesday and beyond.

It always saddens me when women don't like Friday the 13th. The number 13 was considered lucky for women and used to represent femininity until western civilization came along with its patriarchy:

    From about.com:

Other sources speculate that the number 13 may have been purposely vilified by the founders of patriarchal religions in the early days of western civilization because it represented femininity. Thirteen had been revered in prehistoric goddess-worshiping cultures, we are told, because it corresponded to the number of lunar (menstrual) cycles in a year (13 x 28 = 364 days). The "Earth Mother of Laussel," for example — a 27,000-year-old carving found near the Lascaux caves in France often cited as an icon of matriarchal spirituality — depicts a female figure holding a cresent-shaped horn bearing 13 notches. As the solar calendar triumphed over the lunar with the rise of male-dominated civilization, it is surmised, so did the number 12 over the number 13, thereafter considered anathema.

Very interesting Ace. I've always liked the number 13. But I didn't know any of that stuff. I think I chose to like the number when I was a kid because my Mom hates it and I liked to drive her a little crazy in any way that I could.

Ah, I'm sure you were subconsciously subverting the patriarchy, Wahine.

I've never understood the whole Friday 13 thing. It's never seemed so terrible to me.

Now I can just sit back and enjoy it - in a feminine way, of course.

Well, I had the day off and I didn't have to drive to some crazy long distance ride (that's the next day off) so I got in 35 miles. Went up San Dimas canyon (No, Id didn't see Bill or Ted( and found a park in Upland for a family ride my club is planning. The only downside was I got stung by an insect inside my helmet on the way home
Also, I had a new handlebar installed and wanted to try it out. Sounds odd, but I won an FSA K-wing and it has non circular shape, plus the LBS (actually REI) put the STI up bit further than what I was used to. I went put hand in the drops and found myself grabbing a Bunch of nothing!

Only about 60 here today, but sunny.

DH got home from work early. I didn't have to work today. The forecast is for the weather to turn ugly for the rest of the weekend.

    We went for a ride.

I'll be in Upland next weekend

Reading things like San Dimas make me homesick.

Kano, I'd be interested in hearing about riding in Boise some time. I bet there are a lot of good roads!

If you a bunch of Riders going down Baseline about 8:00-8:30, wave! I'm leading the Short(PC for slow) rides, so I'll be at the very tail end.
