LBS Rec in NYC/NJ area?

Do any of you have a good recommendation for an LBS in either NYC or New Jersey? I'm shopping for a new bike and am reluctant to go back to the place I bought my first bike as they were really unpleasant. I'm looking for an LBS with a bit less attitude and a bit more woman-friendly but that seems hard to find.

The Brielle Cyclery is fantastic. Great selection. Friendly ppl. One of the owners is a woman and sponsors a "ladies only" ride on the weekend. This might be a trip for you though, since it's more NJ Shore. But check it out if you have a chance!

haha that's funny. i'm on the women's racing team out of Brielle. the woman's name is Kathy. she's cool, very sweet. they have one of the best mechanics around, Clarence. the shop has a lot of women's clothing and accessories which i find doesn't exist or clearly lacks at other bike shops. i'll actually be there tonight for a spin class. we hold one every Tue & Thurs PM and Sat AM upstairs in the bike shop. you bring your bike and trainer, there's fantastic workouts we do; hour and a half. my best friend and teammate Teresa teaches Thurs nights and makes me come sit up front with her. haha

Sorry, I just noticed the thread, how about one of the Metro bicycle stores. I think there are 5 throughout Manhattan. I live on LI but heard of these stores in NYC.

I just bought a bike at Bicycle Habitat on Lafayette St. in SoHo and they were very helpful.

There is a great bike shop in Brooklyn near Prospect Park, Bicycle Station - got my son an excellent used bike, and they are very nice and really know their stuff. They don't have the same selection as the Manhattan stores though.
