    Riding into the wind

OK, this is a first for me. A group of us went out to bike the race course for next weeks Tri. The wind was so strong that we actually had to pedal hard on a downhill.

It was a great ride though. I am so ready for this race. I feel a lot stronger than last year.

Ah yes headwinds....they make you stronger or something

It's been rather windy here this spring too. Sometimes I enjoy the challenge, sometimes it makes me feel like I'm going insane. I try to just drop into the bars and keep low as much as I can.

Glad you had a great ride

    Betagirl,

I noticed you are from Chicago. I am actually north of Chicago and we rode the Danskin/Pleasant Prairie bike course this am.

I agree, the winds have been nasty this spring.

Very cool. I live in the NW burbs, near Schaumburg. I ride a lot on the roads west of here. It's easy to get into farm roads about 20 miles west. Great roads

I did a ride on the lakefront path a few weeks ago. The winds out of the south were insane, so I headed south first. The ride up from 79th to Hollywood was MUCH easier. I was going about 13 south, over 20 north. When I wasn't dodging people that is.

What race are you training for?

I am doing the Danskin next week. Last year I did both Danskin and Pleasant Prairie (August). My husband is doing Pleasant Prairie this year, so I am sitting that one out. I am thinking about Lake Zurich; it is a full Olympic Distance this year.

I am going to be training for the Runner's Edge Trail Run (half marathon over Labor Day weekend) with a group starting next week.
