Holy Sheep Wool Batman! This is the 30km frosty the snowman melting in 38c episode...
Ok, I knew it was hot out but holy moly..Just sitting here in a towel (sorry probably TMI..)cooling down before I even attempt to have a shower!
First, yes I know 38c is (ok not so hot for some of you) hot but normally Perth is cooled by the Fremantle Doctor(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fremantle_doctor) and my bike ride home is pleasant. Err..not today folks. OMG I thought i was melting out there!!!
(I thought it would be cooler along the river route as there aren't any buildings...I thought wrong..) Since there isn't much shade along the bike any I did come across, was welcoming. Drank 1l of water!
I swear i put enough sunscreen on but when i looked in the mirror a few min ago..![]()
I've never been so happy to be home from a bike ride!!!

YIKES! That is WAY too hot for me. I like it cold. It's going to be in the single digits (F) here starting tomorrow, with windchill in the negative range. Quite the [polar] opposite of your riding!
Stay hydrated, and try to stay cool.

I tried riding in Tucson last summer on a 109F day, I about barfed from the heat. I'll take cool temps any day over that mind-melting heat.(but I still want winter OVER!)

I'm with ya. Cold invites me to MOVE MORE, even if I'd rather I didn't have to, and it turns me into a dessicated alligator. Heat turns me into a blob of sticky asphalt. Kudos and huzzahs to those who keep riding in it!
i rode home in 35.8 at 6.15pm the tues before last. kept waiting for the temp to fall, but it wouldnt. it's been staying hot til 9pm here lately.
during the ride i drank 2 litres of water and felt awful![]()
drank another litre when i got home, but still had a splitting headache (which i assume was dehydration or something!). i have decided i am not made for very hot weather riding, so i'm not going to push it. i admire anyone who can do it, but i just cant.
next week i'm working from home and going out to do my ride at 7am before it gets hot![]()

There's a ride here in Texas called the Hotter-than_Hell 100 (100 miler). This year I did it, and the weather man said the high for the day was 114 F. For me on hot days I really need more than water or I bonk totally from losing salt. I usually have about 2/3 of my fluids as water, and the other third as Gatorade or something like that. You may try taking in other liquids to replace the electrolytes lost.
