Wednesday night we got a call from the security company. The alarm in the garage had gone off. The b'a'stards had broken in through the side garage door. Apparently the ladder and other things stored agaionst it slowed them down a bit and it doesn't look like they made it into the house.
Nonetheless we knew we would not relax on the rest of the vacation. So we arranged the earliest flight back we could. The worst flight I have ever been on. I'll spare you the details, but it pretty much sucked.
I no longer believe in karma. I can not imagine what awful thing we have done to deserve the recent round of crud in our lives. I will continue to do the right thing because it's the right thing. And I'll try to accept sh'i't happens.

So sorry, V. That sucks.

Mannnnn... I am so sorry too!
Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

That's awful. So glad they didn't get into the house.

"Keep plugging along. The finish line is getting closer with every step. When you see it, you won't remember that you are hurting, that anything has gone wrong, or just how slow or fast you are.
You will just know that you are going to finish and that was what you set out to do."

Wow, twice in one month. So sooory for you guys, and sorry that it ruined your vacation. Maybe you need a dog, and/or house sitters next time you go away.
Oh V, I'm so sorry! Sorry you were broken into (twice now), sorry you had to cut your vacation short, sorry thugs are stealing your sense of security. Let's hope karma doesn't leave them alone, and that the next house they hit has a big, mean, angry pitbull inside...
I wish there was something I could do to make things better!![]()

Oh, man.
I can't remember the exact phrase but my highschool teacher father designed "coaching" jackets for the English Department staff one year. Created quite the ruckus in the 70's. Anway, keep it in mind.

Things I've learned...
Don't stay logged in to any place you shop on your laptop.
Make backups regularly and often to things you care about on your computer. I'm more ticked off about all my work and my bike data missing than the stuff.
Locks only keep honest people honest. A pretty sturdy lock with reinforced plate can be pried open in three minutes.
Your door is only as strong as your casing.
Alarms do have some value.
Spend your money on things that can't be stolen. More travel, less stuff.
Don't get too attached to your stuff. I was brought to tears when I realized days after the first burglary that they had taken my Camelbak. I replaced it with the same version, but it doesn't have Oregon and Utah dirt on it. YET!![]()
I'll probably think of more. But hey, maybe this will save one of you some grief later.

v sorry it happened to you. living out here i forgit about break-ins like that. big hugs to you.

So sorry! That has to be the bottom of the pit. I hope you can gain some sense of security back, but as you said we need to put less stock in material things. Easier said than done though.
OMG!You must be beyond angry. I have been burglarized twice and both times I was just absolutely furious. How dare someone break in and take your stuff? How dare they enter your space, invade your privacy and even TOUCH anything you work so hard for!!! AAAAARGH! I hope they catch them. And I hope when they do that these punk-a$$ thugs get more than just a slap on the wrist for it.
Dang, I'm so sorry... I'm mad for you.
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".
I'm so sorry..........do you wonder if maybe you know these people. They knew when you weren't home the first time ,and now they tried when you were on vacation. Did you have some work done in or around your home in the past year????? ((((((((((((((((((((((((V)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Im glad they didnt make it in this time.
