    Very encouraged...the fitting really helped.

Well gang, although I've used my bike on the trainer after the stem was replaced and my new clipless pedals were installed, today was the first day I've actually taken it out for a real spin. It was great! I believe the fitting helped alleviate most of my elbow pain, (plus I utilized the great advice here about keeping my elbows "soft"). I surprised myself by not falling after going clipless today for the first time. This is a feat from someone who gets to the top of the stairs and forgets what they went up for. I'm very encouraged about being able to keep my road bike now. Yippie!

Congrats, Lynda, I'm glad you noticed such a difference! It's great to know that a detailed fitting makes such a difference and that you can get the most out of your rides now.

Just be prepared for that first clipless fall. From the sound of it, it happens to everyone at some point. Based on my own experience, my tip would be to be reeaaal careful of which direction you lean when you clip one foot out and then put on the brakes for a stop...
"How about if we all just try to follow these very simple rules of the road? Drive like the person ahead on the bike is your son/daughter. Ride like the cars are ambulances carrying your loved ones to the emergency room. This should cover everything, unless you are a complete sociopath."
