    Wanted: Old Tubes (flat okay)

I am planning to make a mirror with a frame of woven bike tubes. I think I need 40 or so to make the mirror. Instead of buying the tubes, I was thinking some of you ladies might have ones that you need to recycle. We are a bit lazy about patching tubes around here, but I only have 2 tubes. I would be willing to mail you the postage to get it here. PM me if you have some tubes you would like to recycle for the sake of my decor!

Don't have any spare tubes around, but I would suggest contacting your LBS for tubes. I watched mine pitch 3 yesterday trying to get a particularly stubborn tire to go back on without pinching.

Cool idea - I'd love to see pix once you're done!

I've probably got a 1/2 dozen or more old tubular tires that aren't worth patching or using again. The tires are too stiff to weave, but you could cut them open all the way around and use the thin flexible tubes. Usually the tubes are red (if you want some color in your mirror). But CA_in_NC probably had the best idea - just ask a shop to save you tubes that they are pitching. They probably pitch every tube they change out, as patching isn't worth it for them.
Oil is good, grease is better.
