Santa Barbara: any TE gals up for a ride?

Hey guys. I just won a contest that gives me a free trip to Santa Barbara. I'll have to attend a meeting on Oct. 16-17, but I am thinking to have them fly in me for the weekend and bring my bike, as the pix I just found in my Lonely Planet West Coast Cyling guide sound amazing. It appears to be 45miles to Solvang in one direction, and 36 to Ojai in the other. I can't afford extra nights at the fancy hotel they are putting me up at in Santa Barbara during the meeitng, but I am thinking to fly in on sat. Oct. 15 as early as possible, dump the bike case and luggage at the hotel, then bike as far as I can that day (?maybe to Ojai), find a motel to crash in, and then cycle as far as I can out again on sunday at which point I can officially check into the meeting hotel. Does this make sense? Is anyone up for riding that weekend? How should I expect the weather, in terms of cycling clothing (I am still cycling in 90 degree heat in texas).

    TG,
You will have a pretty climb to get to the Solvang area. It is very pretty though.
I think you may have ride on the shoulder of the 101 Freeway to get to Ojai. Maybe one of the gals who didn't break her arm the Saturday before Cool Breeze will post. Never have been to Ojai, so I can't comment there.
Weather, Should be in the 80-90's. You may want to bring some tights and a jacket ,as it does get down into high 50's. Also, It's starting to be rainy season here.

You might want to check out the Channel Islands Bicycle Club. They are the ones who sponsored the Cool Breeze Century. I'm sure you could even call someone there. I live down in L.A., so I don't know any cyclists personally in the Santa Barbara area, but everyone I met from the club at Cool Breeze was super nice.

Hey! here is the link for Channel Islands bike club

they actually have a ride in Solvang on October 14th.
There MAY be a century that starts in Malibu on Oct 14th that I may do.

That will be about a 90 minute to 2 hour drive from SB to Malibu if you wanted to try that?
