    a good man...

I have the hardest time letting go of money. I get physically sick if I spend more than 100 dollars on anything for myself. Last year I talked myself into buying a Cannondale road bike after months of riding around on a heavy hardtail mountain bike on the road. I've been wanting a full suspension mountain bike but I just couldn't convince myself to go through with purchasing one since last year I made a big purchase. Yesterday DH and I were at the LBS and I was talking to the cannondale rep about this years Feminine Rush. Well this morning my husband tells me he is running to the store for some chocolate milk. When he returned home he informs me that my new bike is on order, showing me the receipt as proof, he got a good deal, so I was especially pleased. I tell you, this touched my heart so much, better to me than any piece of jewelry he could ever buy.

How wonderful! You'll love your Racer X. I just bought a used one and am having so much fun on it. It's way more bike than my skills deserve at this point (I am a complete mtb newbie), but it's just a lovely ride.

    another good man

I've got a good one too.
After getting NO fenders installed at the bike shop yesterday "what do you expect", the LBS owner said to me "this is a race bike.. It's not for slogging through the rain" She then went on to disparage OTHER LBS's in the area for selling bikes like mine... I quickly admitted that i bought it on ebay; she couldn't blame it on a LBS...
I got home with this sad tale of woe and DH said, bring your bike in, I think i have something that will work. And sure enough, in 30 minutes i had at least a rear fender.. He was so tired, after a bad night the night before and he still took time to do that.

"Sigh" It can't arrive quickly enough for me... In about a week and a half. I don't have my own pictures of it yet. But here is a link with a pic and a list of the components.

I love this story!!! Wow, yay, good for you!!! Whoohoo!

I asked hubby to get me a Litespeed Mtn. Bike...Ten years ago it was the only small bike that would fit me...It was my engagement bike...Of course, I got a ring too, but it wasn't some big rock like he originally wanted to get me LOL. I'm a 'practical' gal (well, I like to have my cake and eat it too!)

I hear ya on the guilt about money on yourself, but you're worth it, so receive with joy, Goddess

Gorgeous!!! My favorite colors. My Bike Friday is white with light blue handlebar tape, and my Racer X has a pretty blue fork in the same shade (and is silver). Enjoy it!!!

My fantasy is an S.O. who would buy me a bike instead of an engagement or wedding ring... sigh.

(or bike and simple ti ring. gotta be practical, I guess.)

Oh boy - I thought I was the only one like this! Last night I spent $1800 on a new bike for myself (like you - a Cannondale after months of riding my MTB on the roads) and feel awful about spending the money but great about having a road bike!

My mind goes in such funny circles... if I buy it, I will be healthier, and may live longer... but if I live longer then I shouldn't spend the money because I will need that $1800 in my retirement fund... but I could (knock on wood) die soon, and then would have wanted the freedom of the new bike... but if I die soon, I would want DH to have the money to help offset the loss of my income... but...

I gave DH a Seven for our seventh wedding anniversary - I don't have a problem spending it for someone I love! What a great gift from your DH... I love those little (and big!) things they do to show how much they care. Have a fantastic time!

I lived that fantasy. I got a bike and a ring from my husband when we got married. He's a real keeper. I mentioned the other day that I liked the black rimmed wheels he took off of his bike, but of course they won't fit on mine. So last night he told me that he is ordering black rims for my bike so he can build me some new wheels.

You must tell me what bike you purchased...I tell you, the new paint jobs on the Synapse Feminines this year are gorgeous! Love the black, blue and white combo.
