Pearl Izumi Quest mountain shoes size 42

In my pursuit of "hot foot" cure, I got these a size larger than I normally wear. Still had the hot foot, and I should have known that tight shoes weren't the culprit, dancers wear shoes that are tight, sometimes several sizes too tight, and I've never had it before biking, but I digress...

I'm going back to my Specialized shoe. These were worn maybe 5-6 times. As you can see from the pics, the bottoms are scratched and I'm sure it's from trying to get my foot in the clips without it sliding off. The tops look new. The soles come out so you can use these or put your own in. That didn't work for me either, but if you are wondering what did, two words...metatarsal buttons. Yup, Knotted said something about them, I found some and that cured the problem so I can go back to my correctly fitting (well, correct for me, 54 year old dance teacher that I am) shoes.
