Update on me and my clot

    To disable ads, please log-in.

    I thought I'd post a short update...

I'm doing much better mentally. I'm moving through Kubler-Ross's stages. I think I've finally come to acceptance...

I'm feeling much better now that I'm not giving myself the Lovenox shots twice a day. That medicine isn't supposed to make you feel bad, but it was making me dizzy and fatigued and took my appetite away. 24 hours off it I was doing much better mentally and physically.

We're getting the dose of Coumadin wired in. I'm still getting poked every 5-6 days to check my INR, but that's down from every other day.

I've been cleared to run outside again. I still have to be on the trainer for the bike (until we're sure my INR isn't going too high). But I don't know when, if ever I'll be able to do long swims again. (We think the movement of my arm in the swim made the pacemaker wire irritate the vein, which caused the clot.)

So, overall, life is better. I'm getting back to my cheery self. And I'm not just sitting on the couch getting fat. Yay!

Thanks to everyone for the good words. The support really helps.

Excellent! Glad you are settling in to it. It will all become very routine and ordinary and then in 6 months the nice lab tech who pokes you several times a week will become a distant memory.

glad things are getting better, but sorry the mental part still isn't quite there.
You're making progress, and that's a step (or three) in the right direction.
Keep at it!!! Oh, and enjoy those runs outside again!

Yay for the end of Lovenox.

Glad to hear you're getting back into the swing of things. Couches aren't all that comfortable, anyway.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear you are getting things under control. Be aware that coumadin might make you a bit tired too - not as much as Lovenox, but still, it can affect some people that way.
