    Air Zound installation

I am so sick of dogs chasing us on our rides. I have gone through so many of the small boat horns that I decided to get the Air Zounds since it is re-chargeable with a bike pump. It came today, and the clamp that goes over the handlebars is too small. I called the US distributor, who apparently had never heard of the problem, and is contacting the Canadian manufacturer.

I did a search and know that some of you have the Air Zounds. Did you have this issue? I guess I could get some velcro strips or zip ties for it if they don't have a less fred-looking solution. (But if I'm sporting an Air Zounds on my bike, I guess being fred-like is not really much of a concern for me!)

It is definitely loud. I think I will be dialing down the volume just a hair.

I can't help but am having the same problem with a handlebar mount for a helmet camera that I bought. So I'm watching this thread for a solution.

A Minoura Space grip will slove that issue. There's other brands out there as well.

There's two versions, one that clamps to the handlebars and one that clamps to your stem.

We have the air zounds for the tandem- big bike coming through!

I have an Air Zounds horn on my Bike Friday since my dog-induced accident in 2005. DH mounted it on my Salsa Poco bars up near the stem where there is no bar tape. Fit fine, but that was an older model. You don't mention what type of bars you have or whether you're trying to put it on a part of your bars with bar tape -- I can see how that would make the bar too wide for it.

It really does work! I rarely have to use it, but I have blasted a couple dogs that ran out on the road, and it normally stops them in their tracks long enough for me to make my getaway. Also good in case of a motor vehicle or another cyclist not seeing you, but it is indeed VERY loud. If you are riding with someone you don't normally ride with, warn them that you have it so they don't get a complete shock if you have to use it. And even if you've warned them once, try to warn them again right before you actually go to use it!

I just have a regular Trek road bike. The clamp won't fit on the taped or untaped part. The screw won't even reach to close it.

The Minoura Space Grip is unavailable on the Amazon site. I haven't had a chance to see if I can find it somewhere else. I might just end up doing a velco strap or electrical tape or something if I don't get some help from the manufacturer.
