    Thumbs up awesome ride today

I had an awesome ride today. I just got my bike back from the lbs after a basic overhaul, and a new chain. Although I am pretty compulisve about cleaning off my gear stack, chain and crank, I leave other adjustments to those who know what they are doing. The reason it went into the shop is because of some continuous crank noise.

Well today it rode like a brand new bike. Of course the new chain probably helped.

I got out and on the road and in the groove immediately. No restlessness in the saddle, no wondering about how fast I was going. I passed several fields completely covered with golden coreopsis, and several others covered in white prickly poppy. The weather is warming up but so far the humidity has stayed relatively low. I did an out and back with a stop for an iced latte with 10 miles to go. Got home, down loaded the garmin and was especially pleased to note that my overall speed was the best that I've done and I could have ridden more.

today's ride was 52 miles at 17 mph which is a record for me.

In fact, the coffee & tea stop is essential, I've decided, to a good long ride. Even if I have to pull over, and produce camp stove and coffee&tea paraphernelia, and make my own.
