What do most athletes do about cycling gloves if the cycle portion is only 30K? I was messing around today with a practice transition and it had me wondering. Crazy huh!

If the cycling portion is short, I just ride without the gloves to save time in transition. Last Sun, I saw someone on the first run portion wearing her cycling gloves. It was a little chilly at the start of the race so I guess she decided to put the gloves on early to keep her hands warm and save time putting them on later. Never saw her after that so I'm not sure if she kept them on the whole race or removed them after the cycling part.

depends on the weather, I have worn mine all the time for the 2 that I have done! they don't bother me and if I have to take them off on the run I can just put them in a pocket and not lose any time. My transition went well, I kept it simple, I made sure my velcro was open when on my bike shoes, and I set my helmet upside down chin strap open. I saw a lot of others doint complicated stuff, not me, I was in and out in a jiffy. I did forget to put the thingys on my shoe laces so I didn't have to tie them .

Thanks for the info. It will depend on the weather then. Since I have Raynauds pretty bad I won't worry about other gloves and depend on my bike gloves.
Went out for my first fast group ride yesterday with 3 other women. It was windy and hilly so I got a good workout. Legs are tired today but not too bad.

    Good luck!

I tried to do a spin ride yesterday at the gym, I started doing jumps and realized my legs were still tired so I ended up just spinning at a fast speed with light resistance for about an hour.

I need to find someone to ride with, I talk to a guy at the gym and he said he would show me some bike routes but he is very competative and I am afraid I will slow him down

I put my gloves on the end of my aero bars and put them on as I ride. I never ride without gloves, I work with my hands and road rash even minor could keep me out of work for days. Putting them on as I ride does not slow down my transition and only slows me on the bike for a few seconds. Are you racing this weekend?

I also work with my hands (massage therapist) so I think I will keep the gloves. My 1st race is Sunday May 1st. I picked up aero bars yesterday. I had some from years ago that I used on long rides but never raced with but they weigh about as much as my bike. I have the trappings now I need to get the skills
Right now we have snow on the ground. I know it won't last but geesh...
