Talk about an exciting indoor workout - that had to be one of the all time highs!

Last night, I decided to pop out the CycloZen DVD and hop on my trainer. We got a new trainer, which was working beautifully, and I thought that instead of complaining how dark and cold it was, I needed to sweat to the oldies and so off I went.
First, some yoga moves....ok, how the heck is he popping on and off the floor like that? And I am not so sure that my downward dog is really a downward dog, but feels more like a downward ferret.
Next, on the bike for some hard interval type training. You are supposed to keep at 100 rpm, but I'm thinking that I was more around 10 when I got into the harder gears. And he kept saying "I'm with you. I'm with you." And I kept saying "No you aren't. You are probably at home, watching Dr. 90210 and eating chips. You aren't with me!" BikeHubby kept coming down to check on me, since he thought it strange I was having a conversation with the DVD, but that's another story.
So I am pounding away.....sweat dripping....."Only one minute left!" he claims. "You can do it!" I have nothing to say, since I only have enough breath left to keep me from passing out..... "THAT'S IT! He says. "Good job. Now let's cool down." I go down into an easier gear, grab some water and start spinning....I am finally able to wipe the sweat from my eyes and explain to the DVD that I'm not so sure that I did that good of a job. As I am telling the television how I need to improve, I hear this light thunk from the back of my bike. AND WHEEEEEEE......my bike releases from the trainer and I go flying across the basement. Over some wood on the floor, barely missing the woodstove and the pool table, around some shoes, and surprisingly come to a stop without damaging myself or anything else....
Note to self: Check bike BEFORE mounting to make sure it is locked in a stable position.
On the other hand, I think that it was good cyclocross practice. But I don't think I will be able to ride over those barriers!
The best rides are the ones where you bite off much more than you can chew--and live through it.

Ha ha ha, thanks for bringing a smile to my face. I'm always afraid my bike will come off, too, but so far so good.
Too funny! I'm amazed that you'd be propelled forward. Everytime I've seen someone's bike fall of a trainer they just kinda tip over.
My very first road race (after having coached racers for a couple of seasons) I was hit with incredible nervousness. I won't go into the whole ordeal of 20 trips to the porta-potty, changing clothes 10 times, etc, but the worst thing was the trainer. The team was set up under our tents (about 20 of us total). Everyone was totally cool about me finally being able to race. We had Giana Roberge there as our strategy coach. And I forgot to swap the skewer on my bike. I think you all can imagine what happened next.
Oops!
ah i laugh because i have a fear of the bike coming off the trainer. if that happens i would run over a dog.
thank you for showing me that i'm not the only one that talks to the DVD. the dogs look at me funny and bf doesn't understand.

The planets (or my bike) were aligned just right, Velogirl - I never thought (and have never seen it happen) that if my bike came out I would go flying off into the sunset! Or across the basement as it were....And although I haven't gotten ON the bike with the wrong skewer in place, I did load my bike, show up for a ride and then realized I had the wrong skewer....
Bikehubby is learning just to leave me to my workout and yelling at the DVD, Chickwhorips.....ask no questions, just be glad of the endorphins when I finish....![]()

Now that's what I call a Big Finish!
Glad you did suffer any injuries from your unexpected unhitch. Sounds like you had an awesome workout, regardless.
I'm a Spinervals fanatic, but I might have to check out CycloZen. Of course, here's hoping for a mild winter, no deep freezes, snow or ice, so we can all ride outside through the season!!
Ah, you can ride with any skewer, you know?
Great story!
