RUNNING COACH- WEEK 22

Well, the tri season is over for me. Sad, but now I can get back to focusing on running again.
My hope is that I will be able to run a 5K by April/May 2007. Hopefully, I can get there.
Today's session was, "let's make her work those legs", day!
Here are the drills I will do this week (3 times):
1) Modified plank.
2) Oblique twist in the plank position.
3) One leg stand with back leg pushed back and over to the side.
4) Side step and low reach with a high reach in the middle.
5) One leg squats. Push the leg I am not standing on, back.
6) Straight leg deadlifts with weights.
Run:
15 minutes
18 minutes
Now that the season is over and I don't feel the pressure to "run a 5K before the tri season ends"... this whole process seems a lot less stressful. I like that.

Dang, KSH, by the time you run that 5k you'll have legs that can kick serious butt!!![]()
Well...I actually RAN for about 15 minutes w/out stopping yesterday.
I felt some pain in my legs (on a scale of 1-5, it was a 1)... but completely manageable.
Then, I iced my legs last night, to keep that same 3-inch area from getting inflamed.
I run again tomorrow... we will see how it goes!
Hee-hee...well, with all the cycling... I already call my thighs... the SKULL CRUSHERS (yea, uuumm... put your mind in the gutter on that one!).Dang, KSH, by the time you run that 5k you'll have legs that can kick serious butt!!

I don't know about great minds, but dirty minds certainly think alike.
KSH, sounds like awesome workouts you are doing. in the long run those leg pains may turn out to be the best thing that ever happened for you.

If you ever find yourself in Ohio, maybe you could teach me. My oldest son is a cross country runner and on the back of their shirts it reads, "run fast or get run over". Sometimes he will allow me to run with him, as long as there is no chance other teens will see his mom running with him.![]()

The shirt is great, the saying always makes me want to go faster. What really embarrasses him is when we go for a run and he realizes we have "matching" outfits on.Apparently it is so very "uncool" at 14 to be wearing Addis black running shorts like your mom, even if said shorts are a different cut. To his teen horror we wear the same size in bottoms which means at anytime he could come home and find his mom working out in his clothes...poor child.
On the upside, he has moved into a size large shirt, way too big for me and this has thrilled him to no end.
