Wednesday night DH and I played music (fiddle, dulcimer and banjo, playing American fiddle tunes from the 1800's-1930's) for our local gourmet restaurant during the dinner hours. We do get paid money, but we also get to have a free marvelous dinner as well. :) I had pan seared sea scallops with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans- it was fabulous, but as usual was a huge portion.
So tonight I ate the other half of it as leftovers...mmmmmm :p
The kitties licked the platter clean...
I had leftover spaghetti, and the rest of the family had leftover pork roast that I did in the crock pot with bbq sauce. Delicioso!!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm! Scallops!
It was going to be leftover pesto pasta, but someone who was home alone today during Spring break had a friend over and ate it!
So now I'm really scrambling...
meatloaf, baked potatoes with rosemary and peavines!
Hmmm, let's see, after 30 years of making dinner every night what sounds good...anything. frozen. or. out. of. a. can. We had frozen quiche and tomato soup out of a box (Trader Joes)...did I mention I'm sick of cooking? :p
Before we rode, I read your posts. So I nuked the 2 potatoes. After the 22km road ride, the potatoes were ready, so I chopped them up, added the precut ham, pregrated cheese and prechopped peppers (thanks to DH on Monday night), nuked all of that, and we're having our recovery food now.
What I am concerned with is what I'll have for lunch tomorrow. Queen, I totally agree! I'm pretty tired of cooking, too!!
Hugs and butterflies,
~T~
Peanut butter and jelly sammich. :(
I'm too tired to cook.
Because I had 2 halves of a large focaccia sandwich for lunch (from a meeting), for supper I went out my partner for ...gelato (raspberry, giandula chocolate and vanilla) and a steamed milk.
Snacking on a banana after a slice of soy mozarella cheese on rye cracker. Gonna have a Earl Grey tea while I surf here. Maybe I'll follow up with a dried fig or 2. Not exactly healthy eating..
We are a bunch of lazy forum slobs tonight. :p
I wish I could cook :( my kitchen is still in boxes, the cabinets are mostly in except the ones against the outside of the 1/2 bath wall. The kitchen is painted :) My mission this weekend is to choose a countertop....when it's done Queen, you can have my TJ's mre's.
But for now I could not do without them. :( Tonight at chez Trek; cucumbers, quesadillas, cherry juice, almonds
We had asparagus from the farmers market and American Flatbread Pizza (frozen) delicious healthy pizza (they make it in Los Alamos, Brandi!) And some chocolate chips out of the bag for dessert! Tokie
Tonight we are going to bbq skirt steak with salad or swiss chard. Maybe some corn tortillas with salsa. The weather here today is insane! It is already 79 at 11:00am. Unheard of! So it is patio dinning for us tonight if the wind doesn't pick up. We might make margarita's as well. Dh has been trying to perfect he's mix.
Well it's almost the weekend so that will mean eating out for about five meals. :D
Yeah, tonight I'll just have a couple of slices of lousy pizza at the roller rink in between laps. Yay! :D
Tonight for me and DH its: Broccoli, tofu, shallot sautee and a baked potato. I baked oatmeal, currant, choc chip cookies for dessert.
Grilled shrimp on baby salad greens is what I'm thinking about making this evening.
Well, there's no eating before belly dancing, so dinner will be something easy, light and after 9:00 pm! We often do some frozen oriental appys or the like....maybe we should pick some of those up!
Like Queen, we're likely to eat out a few times this weekend. :D I like that!

Tonight we're eating out at Northern Chinese cuisine restaurant. They make their own noodles...throwing around the stretched dough between the hands.
This time won't be ordering their lamb noodle soup..which I found a tad heavy. Lamb soup is not typical at all in southern Chinese cuisine so I found it as something "new".
Maybe have their soup dumplings --dumplings that contain soup broth...gotta to be careful to bite into one..:o
Tonite I just had a cheese omelette. Tomorrow, company's coming: Reindeer slivers sauteed with onions and mushrooms in a sour cream sauce flavoured with juniper berries and goat cheese (may sound wierd to non-norskies, but it's delicious!). Lingonberries on the side. Boiled potatoes. Applesauce. Sweet potato biscuits. Not sure what we'll have for dessert. Maybe just ice cream.
Hey Queen, I'm with you, it's all a real pain in the arse!
But, then again you have to eat.
Tonight was good, a homemade lasagne that I made yesterday, so no cooking tonight.............yay, and it was gorgeous.
You guys always come up with things I have never heard of:
- pea vines
- keylime pie
- lingonberries
- Reindeer slivers....hang on, you can't chop Rudolph up?
It is really good to be back on this site, so varied.

Well, dinner out with friends got canceled so we're home...dinner tonight will be Coronas with lime and popcorn, with possibly a side of dark chocolate. I LOVE being a grown up! :p
DH, DH's best friend, and I are going out tonight. Not sure where yet, but hopefully somewhere special--I just completed my first week at my new job! :D
Homegrown butternut squash risotto. I'm always afraid the inlaws won't like my cooking - this one was a success!
pea vines are very tender. You heat some oil, throw them in. I like to add a little sesame oil and salt for accents... after you toss them around in the hot pan for a bit, turn the heat down and let them steam for about 5 minutes. REALLY tasty
Steamed some rice. Sauted a bunch of veges in balsamic vinegar and spices and then sauted some salmon and scallops in white wine and lemon. Put them all together for a rice bowl with a bottle of chardonnay. yum.
Ooh Shooting Star...I saw that you live in Vancouver. My husband had our first night of our honeymoon in Vancover at the Four Seasons on our way to Whistler to ski. The concierge recommended a fabulous Chinese restaurant where they did the handmade noodles infront of you. What is the name of it?
It has been 9 years since we have been there. To this day it was still the best Chinese we have had...probably helped that we were starving and that
we were on the newlywed high....but it was still excellent!
You guys are making me hungry...date night tonight!
Going out on the town, Grandma has the kids...Pub and grubbn' gourmet pizza or a really nice dinner??? Mmmmmm??
Cook (me) isn't feeling up to it tonight so its crazy chicken.
EL POLLO LOCO (fast food. flame grilled chicken with tortilla and salsa) a regional chain in southern california.
Can't someone else cook for me for next several years?? something tasty?
smilingcat
I have never heard of pea vines. I have grown garden peasl. Are pea vines just youg garden peas, stems, leaves etc?
We had a frozen kashi pizza and lettuce-less salad - cauliflower, avacado, carrots, snap peas,, tomatoes, and cucumber with fat free ranch dressing. Sliced strawberries and a few toasted almonds for dessert. LAZY!
Shaolin Noodle Restaurant -just a few kms. from 4 Seasons Hotel.Quote:

or Legendary Noodle Restaurant which is near English Bay --which to me, is abit anglicized. But still fine. They make a lemon chicken/chives dumplings or similar...which is definitely fusion.
We just went 5 doors down from Shaolin Noodle --to Peaceful Restaurant. for our hand-pulled noodles in soup. You wouldn't have been there, they opened less than 2 yrs. ago. Peaceful Restaurant is genuine Chinese, without any apologies/compromises nor fusion.
I'm full tonight.!.....:)
By the way, I love fusion cooking...but it needs to be complimentary and dynamic...not watered down version of something traditional.
Nachos, beer (DH), and wine (me). (See weight loss thread for more info...:o:rolleyes:)
Let me think.....tonight I made Chicken Tidbits Parmesan, mash potatos and veggies.
Dirty corn chowder with dinner rolls.
