According to cycling news, the verdict in Floyd's trial will be announced some time on Friday. Perfect timing, eh? Just 24 hours before the start of the Tour. It's kind of a shame to do that, since it will draw so much attention away from the guys that are out there busting their humps to win this year. All anyone will be talking about on Saturday will be Floyd! It would make a great drinking game, though...take a gulp everytime one of the commentators says Floyd or Landis! :)
Love the drinking game idea, I may just suggest to DH. HMMM-shots of preferred spirit each time we hear Floyd or Landis, sounds really good to me!
A few weeks ago I asked Dh if he had heard anything about the verdict yet. He said they had 30 days from the time they started delierating and he predicted they'd wait until right when the Tour was starting to announce it in order draw more attention to the Tour. Looks like he predicted correctly. :)

Re: The drinking game- To make it really authentic, the shots should be whatever Floyd drank the night of Stage 16. Jack Daniels, if I recall correctly...?
On a more serious note, I've got my fingers crossed for Floyd. Though whatever verdict comes out, you know there will be an appeal from the opposite side that will continue to drag the whole thing on and on.
Any idea WHEN today? The article wasn't specific.
I am on the edge of my seat, though hopes will likely be dashed.

Gives me something fun to do while drafting a letter to the presiding judge of Contra Costa County superior court about forgeries of judicial documents and legal docs by a former secretary of our firm... :eek: Floyd's not the only victim of record tampering here.... Shockingly easy to do. She forged my name to several docs so I have to see about putting some sort of fraud alert on my state Bar #. What a PITA.

I thought he was tapped out financially and it would certainly be stressful and emotionally draining.
As financially and emotionally tapped out as Floyd may be, he's certainly made it sound as if he would carry this fight as far as he possibly could. I don't know for sure that he would appeal, but if the verdict's in his favor I'd be very surprised if UCI &/or WADA didn't.

Actually I think if Floyd were to be found innocent, it would put a lot of scrutiny on them. Floyd fought it because he had a reason to despite the fact it was a lot of money. For those who were accused and maintained innocence, it was easier to sit out the suspension. I still think Tyler was innocent so, you know, I'm bitter :)

Thanks for that link, Kali... Lance came out straight away in support last year. I have always found that interesting as he hasn't supported other riders who stood accused (like Hamilton, for example - Lance never said a word)
I was disappointed when watching the prologue that there was no "number 1" jersey this year... not because Floyd wasn't riding, but because they still hadn't reached a *!!(^***%# verdict!!!
So ANY idea - for real?? Any idea at all??? Maybe after the Tour so as not to "discolour" and distract from it...?

just finished floyd's book today. after reading some previous threads I was leaning towards "science doesnt lie," especially in regard to the carbon isotope ratio test. but now I am CONVINCED he is innocent. i would love to go to a book signing, that would be so cool! maybe he'll show up at el Tour de Tucson again this year!

I was at his book signing tonight in Seattle. He is probably one of the most straight forward people I have ever talked to.
Ditto for me!!! Although I did go to the book signing and I am so glad that I did. Before reading the I kinda figured that he was innocent but you know when you really just want something to be true. Well, after reading the book I am also convinced. There is just too much info in there and I have not heard anyone coming out and saying any of it is not true.Quote:

i feel for Floyd. i hope the USADA doesn't follow suit the way they've always done and never let the athlete win. i hope they can stop being full of themselves or playing with politics and use the justice system for what it's made for.....
