For another example:
Rode my bike today
Cannot understand this wind
My quads are aflame
These were composed on my 400k:
#1
This headwind is strong
I hope it's still there when I
reach the turn-around
#2
Get on the wheel now
I've drafted you for a half
mile. I'm willing to pull
And my signature line was composed by my riding partner in anticipation of my doing the Devil Mountain Double century a couple weeks ago.
just passed mile forty
girly bits are telling me
let's stop for ice cream
Cycling, oh what joy
How I want to buy more toys
It's in my blood now
When on bike I fly
in my mind I fall to earth
Legs work well I'm safe
beautiful bike ride
we fly the trails like birds
soaring in the sun
the wind rushes by
trees aren't very aero
but neither am i
:)
Looking at my hands
Now have a glove tan
Real avid cyclist
pedal pedal up :(
my thighs are screaming their pain
love that granny ring :p
wow!
thanks Lisa, these are fun
pulling up the hill
Delauter's Store is in sight
I deserve ice cream
Hear the crisp click of
brass cleats in steel eggbeaters
round and round and round...
The wind is blowing
get down in the drops and pull
use your very core.
Gravel under tires
hear pebbles' sharp staccato
and sandy white noise.
I ride to be one
with the wind blowing through me
and the rain's kisses.
We fight against the
wind itself, but how to live
without the in/out?
Lungs pull it in, deep
and I am renewed by it
in spite of itself.
rise from my saddle
steel frame flexing under me
skipping up the hills
Nice compositions everyone.
Lisa and Kit, Wow!
Mine is not nearly so artsy, but here it is...
The Ironman Haiku
I swim two point four
Then ride one hundred and twelve
End with marathon
My sweetheart rides hard
For our stricken "family."
Deadline nears. Donate!
(subtle, eh? :D )
wish to ride my bike
survive through TE TD
hope to ride again
tree-filtered sunlight
obscures dark dirt rut ahead;
SNAP! Compound fracture
I have never been a fan of haiku, because I always wanted a little more than 17 syllables can usually deliver.
However, I am well impressed by this thread... some great images here.
...and Kit, your "linked series" is just fantastic.
Thank you ladies... when I am not so tired I'd like to contribute something too... but in the meantime I just had to say thank you
PING. What was that noise?
Wheel rub. Resistance. Why?
Broken spoke. D@mm!t.
From last week's events...
Shoo, thief, from my bike
Put your bolt cutter away.
Oh well, there it goes.
:(
Thanks! I really like writing... one of my first loves- I always come up with things while riding, but b/c I have a goldfish's memory... well... they're short-lived. :p Here's another one... just b/c. :D Ri/Ri I love yours. A compound fx'd clavicle? Yow! D*mn!
Close your eyes and feel
the road beneath you for now
the texture of it
black asphalt whispers soft
and packed dirt trails crackle
with dry leaves and twigs
To ride is to be
open to the sensation
of the world around.
Taste the morning air
the cool touch of eve'ning air
the scent of farm fields
We don't commute, we
make a journey, twice a day
A little venture.
In our own zen way
we do it just to do it
for the joy of it.
Thank you, Kit
I am now resolved to bike to work. Soon, very soon
H&B
~T~
my bike holds laundry
ignominious duty

I can take no more
of crappy cold freaking wind

cold stinging my hands
my nose runs like a faucet
Ah! Spring biking joy!
Spring Break cold cold rain
Will this winter ever stop
My bike needs sunlight
no time for posting
just lurking with enjoyment
