Mupedalpusher is back from vacation and holding firmly at 137. Middle of the week it looked like I had gained a pound but it was all gone by this morning's weigh in! I'm always happy just to maintain on vacation.
*sigh* Back up to 147 this morning. But I've been taking a lot of Motrin for my hip pointer and that makes me hold a lot of water.
Well, back down to 149. I seem to go between 149-150. This may be where my body wants to be. Great job to everyone.
158.4 ... back on track (in the right direction!). Thanks all for this challenge, it makes a difference. :)
138.8 :)
Well, I did it. I said that I was going to fit comfortably into my size 8 jeans, and I do! Five weeks ago, I posted my "before pictures." And now here are my "after pictures."

And I am not stopping here. My "whisper goal" is to get to 129.
Since I seem to have landed on the right formula these days to drop pounds, I am going to just keep doing what I am doing.
I am really proud of myself that I made a plan and then kept to it. :D
Posting those "before pictures" was a real motivator for me.

Definitely wish I saw this earlier! I am currently 143 and I started a bet with my sister to lose 10lbs by August 1. The winner receives $200 toward a pair of jeans! Where I really need to be to look my best is around 128, but 130 makes me a very happy girl! I'm a hair shy of 5'-7". I am just now starting to get back on the bike and the blades and my long city walks with my pug. If you extend this to July/August please count me in!:D
thanks,
-:extravert
EXTRA:Those are SOME jeans! Good luckQuote:

My weight last night : 165.8lb. Finally down a tiny bit!
PS... LYNETTE: Whoo Hoo!!!!!!! Go Girl!!!!
Down another kilo as of this morning. 180.4 YAY! Didn't get the exercize I should've all week, and hotel meals for 3 days would usually have put me up the scale a bit. "Luckily" for me, I was sick those 3 days (Crohn's flare-up the night before take-off) so I barely ate, mostly just concentrated on staying hydrated and getting some easily digested proteins on board. Now my guts are back in order, so now I'll have to do some daily hiking and biking if I'm to keep the weight off while visiting my Mom. All that comfort food ... :p  She cooks very healthy meals! It's not that there's a lot of fat or sugar in everything, but she does do things like pancakes for breakfast and dessert after dinner when there's company in the house. Well, better get to bed if I'm to be up early and hike the Overlook Trail before breakfast! (Well, maybe not the first morning. I must be seriously jet-lagged to be sitting here on line at 1:30 am. Better get to bed!)
I'm back at 139 this week. Hopefully, I'll be able to end below that!
yikes...back up again- the scale said 150.2 but I truly don't believe it- I exercised tons, was really good about what I ate...hmmmm here's hoping it is just left over bloating from my period!
Funny thing is I felt really good until I got on the scale- then I just felt blech!
Ate crappy food today too- why oh why do I do that to myself!
ps LYNETTE YOU ARE AWESOME!!!
Hey Guys
Hanging tight at 190. I am not getting this. I haven't gotten much mtn biking in but I logged a total of 90 miles this week (road- mtn bike with slicks) and it just ain't coming off. I know I'm not drinking enough water but I also ditched the WW thing too, why? Because I was eating way too much processed foods. So there you have it. Heading into the home stretch. Better go drink some water!
very slight change for me, 179.0 this week. time to get my butt moving again, got a bit lazy last week. :)
What week are we on? How much time do I have?
Sorry this reply post is so far down the line, I was at 2 mtb clinics this past weekend and have now caught up at work.
Aimee ... you question right, why does the number have the power to upset us? For me, I had to let go of wanting to be a certain weight, my goal was to get healthy inside and feel better overall. I had let myself go so far, that each 10 year age block added on 10-15 pounds with NO exercise. ARGH!!!When the clothes started to fit better and even drop a size ...I felt that was my success. Admittedly I began looking at the weight # ... when I saw the weight start to come off, but I still strive for better eating habits and more exercise.
I got very anal charting things ... it'd probably scare a normal person. But what I've been doing works for me, just strive to be healthy!
PJ
Thanks everyone for your encouragement and kind words of support.
As this weight loss challenge is coming to a close, I am already starting to look forward to the next one.
I have been in every one so far, and have lost "some" weight (even if it was just a pound or two) by the end of each one. All together, it has been a loss of 10 pounds since the first challenge.
So, obviously, this type of format works for me. I like having a place to be accountable and also have support from others when I am struggling.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this thread. :)

Sorry for the delay on this!!
I weighed in the same as the previous week, so no change for me. It appears that we have a few challengers out on vacation this week! ;)

Congratulations, Lynette!!
Not only do you look great in those jeans, but you are the first person in the challenge to have met your goal!! There are a few others who are close, so keep up the good work everyone. One more weigh-in to go!!
Lynette, great job! What works for one may not for another, so just stick to what is working and drive on! For me, I had to find out how many NET calories my body needed to maintain my weight. Once I learned that, I track daily but only look at the average for the week. My body (and mind) does good on a slow, steady loss .... half pound to one pound loss per week.
I'm in for the next challenge ...
Count me in for the next one as well. I feel like maybe I'm finally getting a groove going. Commuting on the bike really has helped. I'm upping my mileage but really weak on getting out on my mountain bike. The humidity here is amping up and tomorrow it's supposed to be hot. UGH. I'm going to try and ride anyway. I love it even if it's not on dirt, I guess it'll do :)
143 lbs this morning!!! Those extra spinning classes are really paying off!
Can't wait for the next challenge!
170.6 this morning. A whopping total of 1.8 pounds lost for this challenge.
But, as Lynnette said, it helps me be accountable. Great job, Lynnette!
Count me in for the next one.
124. didn't make it this time, maybe next time? although my muscles are bigger and my pants are looser...so i'm not complaining.
Final Weight - 138.2 :)
I am very pleased!
This thread was very inspiring to me. Nice job, everyone. Whether you ended up losing weight or not, just the fact that you all participated is wonderful. It means that you are paying attention to your health.
Let's all do it again!
Lynette
Thanks, Tabby! I know that number isn't the only thing you should pay attention to. Especially when you're just starting to workout and develop muscle again. I'm up again this week...182.5, but I'm also comfortably wearing a pair of jeans that I couldn't even bend in a couple of months ago. Whoo hoo! And I was checking my calves out this morning with a big smile on my face. I'm sure I'm going to be developing my thighs into what someone else called "monster legs", but my calves are starting to look HOT! Tee hee! I've started wearing skirts to work again. And I'll be thrilled with monster legs/thighs if they're monsterous because of muscle rather than fat.
Let's do this again!
Aimee
According to Mom's bathroom scale, I'm down a smidgen this week, just a tad under 180. But I think Mom's scale is "kinder" than mine at home, so I'll report that as no change. The plan is to bike and hike more next week when we're fewer in the household and (hopefully) there's less wildfire smoke in the air. Right now I'm feeling it scratching at my throat just sitting here at the computer with a window open
Didn't quite make my goal, but did lose some. Enough to look better in my summer clothes, a size smaller than last winter's. If the challenge is on for July/August, count me in!
176.6 for me, which means i actually met my goal of 177. though i'm heading out for a weekend of scrapbooking, which means snacking, so i'm a little worried about what monday will bring. and i'm banned from the bike until tuesday due to a cortisone shot in the right shoulder. but my scrapping friend wants to walk/run while we are away, so fingers crossed that we do a lot of that.
i'm a far way from the shape i want to be in. but the 'fat girl' clothes that i've worn the last few years were almost getting unwearable, and now i'm back into them. so i'm totally game for the next two month challenge so i can try and get to where the bigger clothes are too loose and maybe i can get a size down. :)
My final for this round is 136. Only lost 4lbs because I didn't get serious soon enough but I'm ready for another round!!
Still 227 here - but I've been riding more, and think there may be some muscle gain in there - at least I hope there is:)
So...next challenge??
CA
189.4 lbs
Gained a little this week with the fair in town and a couple parties. Hopefully I'll stay on track.
Thank you for the challenge, looking forward to the next one!
164.5 this morning. :( all the weight I lost this challenge was lost in the first week! Typical of me -- I get revved up over something new and start with a bang, then nothing. But hey, I weigh less now than I did at the beginning, and that is better than the altneratives, right?
count me in for the next challenge.
159.3, up .9 from last week, down 1.3 since the start ()... Since almost no one is riding in the smoky hazy air here in Nor Cal, I'm just glad I didn't gain it all back! :p I think the trick for me is to focus ... but anywho, I'm in if there's another challenge.
Thanks GLC1968 for the weekly posting! :D
Cheers!
OK Ladies!!!
What do we do when we fall off our bikes .... (we can't hide it, we all have) ... but what do we do??
We jump right back on and pedal, pedal, pedal!!
One or two days off for the fair, scrapbooking, vacation, relatives in town, bad day or any other distraction can't keep us on the ground or off our bikes! So a small set back is in the past, get back on the better eating habit routine and just pedal, pedal, pedal!!
To lose one pound, a person must burn 3,500 calories more than are consumed (500 calories per day over the course of a week). For example, reducing calories by 300 per day and increasing daily activity to burn off an additional 200 calories should result in a weight loss of one pound per week.:D
A new challenge rolls on Tuesday ...
I'm ready, lets go!
PJ
148 for me!
I'm ready to lose more weight :)
Ending just up a bit at 166.2
Ready to start again. This Triathlon / swimming stuff has been occupying my mind. I may be eating from stress!!!!
NEXT WEEK IS NEW< RIGHT??????
Good job everybody! Especially you, Lynette!
Count me in too. I am just glad to be away from that 200 number. I am not losing right now but this challenge keeps me focused. It's hard to believe June is gone. Wow. I'm fitting in jeans that should fit me when I'm 180 so I'm not that crazy feeling about the number.
My allergies are killing me right now and I don't like to take medication for it. I was going to ride this a.m. but one ear is plugged and I feel horrible. UGH.
See ya all next round!
I know I've not been participating in this...but I'm excited....I'm nearly down to 160! With my miles up, I'm eating voraciously...but it's what I'm eating that's making the difference.
I'm feeling more and more lean with time too.
I'm 5'6", so I could still stand to lose 20 pounds to be considered lean.
Down to 148. Hope my weight continues to go down. My goal is 140. I will remain focused.
Hey, Tahoe, great job on your challenge success! Slow and steady is the best way to go! I find it gives my body time to adjust and gives me more acceptance of the dietary changes that I can actually learn to maintain.
Good job, see you in the next challenge!
