Hey, Kelownagirl, don't totally lose heart. In a few years when she's grown up a little more, the good times will come back. My parents were pretty great, and in my teens I put them through a few years of undeserved hell. When I got over myself and we got close again, it stayed that way. I think that happens a lot. For now, though...she needs to learn it's not okay to do that stuff. She will learn better elsewhere, perhaps--and you'll get a break from it too.
(BIG sigh) Finally home and have everything under control. Man, I've got a high maintenance family. They're all happy again so my job is done for the night. It's been an unusually loooooong week for me. Time to relax now and get caught up on TD.
Kelownagirl - I haven't got kids so I'd feel a bit out of line to give advice on this one. I do know that I've never raised my voice to my Mom and never would. Not that I didn't want to on occasion, but I just never saw it as an option to act like that. I'm a pretty deeply happy person though. It's unusual for me to not be smiling. Can't help it. Two of my four brothers are a completely different story. Miserable cusses all the time. The other two are an even mixture. We all grew up in the same house but...
It sounds like you're setting a good example even if she's not ready to follow it yet. Just keep being a good Mom and roll model and I'm sure she'll come around and grow up. Like Trek said, it's the hardest job in the world. Sometimes the hardest part is being patient and letting them find their own path to adulthood.

annie i did think about it at one time, just because i wanted to be perkier, then thought about a lift, then decided i liked mine and if they were any bigger than they are i would have problems. did that help?

The only way to describe thier mating style would be how most large four legged animals do it..It was rather funny.
In terms of their laugh, it looks like they're rolling thier chest upwards in order to make the sound. You'd have to see it to understand.

I just got done putting new Gatorskins on Lava. My thumbs hurt. And, to top it off, I put the first one, the rear of course, on backwards. I don't think it would make much of a difference on a road tire, but- it would bug me. So I had to re-do it. I _knew_ which way it was supposed to go, but I put it on from the wrong side of the wheel.
I noticed at IM FL that my rear Michelin Pro Race had a lot of knicks and a big slit. I don't have that many miles on those tires- maybe a couple thousand? I put over 4000 on the Bontrager Race Lites, which I loved. No more Michelins for me. They just always looked shoddy- even brand new.
So I decided to try Gatorskins. I only had one flat with the Bontragers, when I ran over a second bottle neck in one evening, and no flats with the Michelins. Still...Brevet season will be starting up in January again- and I just want to see.
I could use some lighter wheels, though.
Got to see Inez for 30 seconds last night.
Choco and I made up a new game. The old game was, he'd crawl along my hand, and almost drop off, and I'd say "You're gonna fall...you're gonna fall!!!" And then he'd drop off but catch himself with his tail at the last second. Then I'd say "You're never going to be able to pull yourself back up! It's too far!!" and then he'd crawl back up himself. We do it over and over and over. It's good exercise for him.
The other old game was I'd wind him around both index fingers and thumbs, in a kind of figure eight, then start winding him like bicycle pedals, in that motion, but instead of getting tangled up or falling off, he'd just move in time with my hands, staying in one place.
The new game is, he hangs down from my left hand, hanging by his tail. I put my right hand where he can barely reach it, and he reaches down, and down, and his tail grip gets less and less, then he makes contact with my hand, and gradually shifts his weight to my right hand, and stiffens up his spine that's out in mid-air so when he lets go with his tail, he doesn't just flop down, but stays straight like a stick till he can crawl the whole way onto my other hand.
He is so talented!
Salsa, that's cool that you want a snake. If I were you, I'd go to a reptile show and look at everything. I would get a baby that was three or four months old- eating well- not a fragile tiny hatchling. They are so fun at the baby stage, when you can hold them in one hand and do whatever else you were doing with the other.
They're fun when they are big and strong, too.

they also have socks and jerseys etc. The socks are wonderful, most comfy I have ever worn.
QUeen-I wasn't in the forces, my dad was. I'm a military brat...My father was the head of logistics for the Cdn forces and served for 36yrs. Thankfully he retired about 4yrs ago.
He's happily retired driving a school bus. He struggles with PTSD but is doing well.
Somehow I feel like i'm posting for Knotted as she's not around...
