He just told me it really depends on how they feel. :P He's so subtle and shy.
Ugh. I'm supposed to be doing homework and don't "feel like it". :p If it weren't due tomorrow I would SO be blowing it off.
You are amazingly disciplined!
Great that you weren't in pain! my sitbones are fairly sore today, but not too bad since I kept it to the 6 miles for the first ride. Next one will be another 6 or maybe 10 miles. :)
But really my main goal is pretty realistic- to simply use my bike more often on errands into town and back- oour hill going home is only 1/4 mile but steep, and it works my legs out pretty well.
Yeah I hear ya. I'm sad that commuting and cycling for errands just doesn't work for me where I live. In another life, I will live in a small town and be able to walk or ride to everything... Sigh....
At any rate, I have to be disciplined right now - I'm training for a Half Ironman on June 5 and I have a lot of work to do. I've been riding the trainer on and off since January, but nothing more than 90 minutes a couple times a week. It was big difference getting out and riding the roads for a change...
Happy Birthday KG!!
Nice to see some old-timers popping their heads in here again. Hi X, Kit, Pax!
My latest keeping-me-too-busy thing is organizing 2 teams of 10 for a local canoe relay race on Apr 30. I've done this race with my company for many years, and decided to put together an all-women's team this year with a women's outdoor organization I belong to. There has been only 1 team in the women's division of this race, and I thought that was sad, so now there will be competition. It seem that lots of people will join a race if you tell them that they are guaranteed to finish in the top 3! I had 21 people signed up, registered 2 team of 10, and am now struggling to replace those who have dropped out. But it's all coming together. We had a great practice on the river last Sunday with 9 team members paddling.
Deb, that sounds like a great time!!
(((Pax)))
It's almost like a family reunion in the TD these days. :)
@ school right now, finished up a journal that will be due... now I need to go look over some xrays and critique them (basically we fill out a form saying what's right and what's wrong with the positioning, what different body parts are in the pics, etc) lots o' fun. :D Was talking to a fella in my class, he rides his Soma (Doublecross?) in from Mt. Tabr area every morning. It's funny, I'd walk past his bike and admire it every morning... now I know who its owner is. :D
Kit!! Glad to "see" you, hope all is well with school and such.
So far, so good. I'm getting all good grades, have my clinicals at a really great local hospital and have class with some really cool people. :D Life is good.
Finished up my critiques, now time to feed kitties, make dinner, finish my homework and maybe have a beer.
UGGHHH. Where Brooks go to die...

"good condition" :D
Deb, the canoe race sounds fun.
It makes me sad that we hardly use our very nice canoe. Every year less and less. I only do flat water paddling, but it's not like there's a lack of places to do that around here. The bike just gets in the way.
Great to see this place hoppin' agaian:)
Meant to pop in earlier, but been working too much OT. on the other hand , I do go on vacation friday:cool:
wooWOO! And here I was excited about getting to go to a convention with a bunch of my classmates this weekend... :p Ok, I'm still excited, but Key West! Count me in the 'jealous' party. :D
Have fun in Key West! :D
I remember when I was 18 (about a hundred years ago) riding a scooter around in the Bahamas, buying a woven palm leaf hat, eating pigeon peas and chicken- what fun!
DH and I are oddly getting swamped with patent drawing work right now- looks like maybe we won't get a chance to get away anywhere for fun- just an obligatory family trip in June we don't really want to do but have to. We'll try to make it as enjoyable as we can.
But I do have my big veg garden and my beehives to tend, and that can feel like a sanctuary right in my own little neighborhood back yard. When i'm digging the soil and sowing bok choy and cucumber seeds in the sun with my bees flying around me, I feel like i'm a thousand miles away from my desk.
BSG - your yard sounds heavenly.
My SO finally got word that her position at the U will be ending in the Fall due to budget cuts (ahh the joy of being non tenure track faculty). We've been anticipating this for a couple of years and we've been working things out financially so when it happens we'll be okay. We will be able to live on my salary and I can but her on my benefits.
I'm happy for her as she's been burned out in her field for some time, I hope she'll just take some down time and rest/refocus.
You are very smart to have prepared for that possibility. She'll have time to recoup her strength and then figure out a new and better path.
Dang, I didn't even know Ft. Wayne was big enough to have a nickname outside its immediate environs! Sure it was the big city to my ex when he was growing up in Van Wert...
'Afternoon, ladies! What's happening?
Back from classes, errands and such. Trying to get up the energy to do the cleaning etc before we have guests over. X hung my painting this afternoon before I got home from class, so that was great. :D I think Sunny might go on the trainer so I can 'practice' a bit even when the weather's icky.
Wow - it's like old home week in here.
Hey Pax - you still riding? I am even more moto fickle than I thought I was and just traded the monster (that I had traded the bonnie for) for a 2006 multistrada. The monster was way too cramped for the trip we did to Seattle, so I have been keeping my eye open for an old multi. So far I love it. So comfy.
Hey maillotpois! Yup, still riding. I have a scooter for commuting to work and I' a Moto Guzzi Breva motorcycle for everything else... gotta love the Italian bikes!! :D
Oooooo..it rained today... First rain Perth's received in just over 3 months...I can't believe they actually record .6mm of rain...ha aahaaa...
I don't know if our dams will be full by the end of our rainy season...:(
