Heading off to the post now
My ss sure will think we are twin sisters and telepathic too when she re-reads this thread when she gets it.
I couldn't believe my eyes!
Came home for lunch and had a wonderful package from my ss. Everything is just perfect. She sent a bunch of different flavored hot chocolate, yum, Smartwool headband, TE post its and great pair of Lin socks with a pink sprocket on them. I've been eyeing them, on the featured products page, this week and are just what I wanted! Thank you so much. Your thoughtfulness is really appreciated! So, Salsabike are you my SS??
To my SS your package will be going out this weekend. There's just one more thing I want to get for it. Thanks for being patient with me....
Kerry
Thanks to my Utah January Secret Sister! What a joy it was to open that box and find all the goodies. For all of you out there, I'm guessing maybe Sulis or Yellow (maybe there's another Utah TE girl out there?) sent me a wonderful polar water bottle, arm warmers (yahoo), you can never have too many arm warmers; defeet woolie boolie socks (my absolute favorite and warmest socks yet); luna bars. Wow, what a stash of great things! It is cold here, I can sure use all this wonderful stuff.
A huge hug to my SS - Laura. As my mom would say, you done good! I was exhausted when I left work today (why do four day weeks take so much out of you?) and was thinking of all I had to do given I have to work my other job tomorrow when I opened my mailbox and found a festive envelope with my name on it! Needless to say my energy level picked up some and a smile consumed my face. I rushed into the house, let the dogs out and opened my package, with kitten help of course. Inside, I found simply wonderful gifts - socks, hand warmers, sports beans and shot bloks (I've read about these but have not been able to find them - I'm excited:p ) Thanks again Laura, I'm looking forward to finally having warm hands when I ride on cold days and toasty toes :)
Thank you, thank you, thank you to my January SS. I am wearing my "toe" socks as I type...Never had anything like that, but will wear them and think of you...Ok, I did a search on Torrance, CA in the getting to know you thread and the only one I came up with is greenmachine....Is it you? If it is, thank you again and if not, thank you my Secret Sister....
Yes, and I am so glad you liked everything! I read all your posts for whatever I could glean from them, and it was really fun to do that. The Lin socks have a pink peace sprocket--I figure we're all wanting peace no matter from what direction...
But how did you know it was me vs. all the other Seattleites?
Hey, I LOVE Ground Effect--I went through a whole email thing with them last fall involving a custom pair of Witches' Britches. They are beyond cool. So to have a Ground Effect Baked Beanie hat is perfect! I am delighted to have the hand warmers because I am really subject to cold fingers. The purple-stripe NZ sheep socks are totally adorable. I would love to see NZ some day--Mr. Salsa lived there for about eight months and loved it. Also, as both a Wales fan and a knitter, I just plain like sheep. And I have yet to read a book by Lance himself, so thank you very much for that book. I did read and was totally fascinated by "Lance Armstrong's War" (just in case anyone needs a book rec).
Wahoo...Finally decided what to send my ss..:D and it's on it's way...:D
Sending my ss sunshine too..

Thank you to my January SS from the UK!!! :)
Got my package today - yummy hot cocoa and ExpressToddy, a hot black currant drink that I had tonight for dessert. Yummy!
And, wow...
I do have to say...the women of TE are a very talented bunch.
She also sent my "wrist warmers" that she made to keep my wrists warm on cold rides when my jersey sleeves are just *not quite long enough*! Boy, don't I know THAT one! That is such a great idea. My DH said he used to use old socks for that when he was a kid, but I think my home-made wrist warmers are MUCH better! I intend to put them in my ski bag too!
Thank you!!!
Thank you to my ss - I'm a lousy sleuth, so I haven't a clue! Everything is wonderful....the truffles are gone.
Those socks look awesome snapdragen.
A big thank you to My SS (Sue)!! What a lovely care package for warming up after a chilly ride! And lovely smart wool socks to boot. Ahhhh. Dh has been eyeing the scone mix and chocolate with interest since I've been making him follow the "Eating For Life" program with me (he's really quite a slender fellow, so that's asking quite alot). I've promised to make the scones if he comes riding with me sometime. You really made my day:D .
Not that I would know, but I have heard through the grapevine that you can get them here:

Oh, and makbike, there was also a pair of ear warmers that was supposed to go into your festive package. So embarassing! I got home from the post office to find them still sitting on the table!:o I'll try to slip them in the mail sometime soon.
A huge thank you to my really secret SS
not only did you obviously do your research to find out my absolute favourite cycling products company - but in the process you managed to find a way around the postmark and customs form ruining the secrecy.
The bandana will be great for the 'man its hot out there days' - we had our hottest day of the summer on Monday. The 'padded cell' is much appreciated too - I'm always a bit worried that the tools banging around in the seat bag of my commuter bike might puncture my spare tube but had never got around to doing anything about it.
To my SS: I finally got over to the post office today - it's on the way!
:) :D :) :)
Finally i've been able to remain anonymous :) :D

heh heh heh
Hey KiwiGirl-So glad you liked the ground effect stuff. I was concerned you may have had those items already...It's also good to see there's another ground effect junkie out there!!!
It's great that Ground Effect allows the sender to remain anonymous!!!:) (I was rather upset when i sent something via TE & didn't know my name had to be on it. )
Also, Christchurch has seen the sun lately? wow!!!
c
I saw the sun too, briefly, just before it set. I finished work early yesterday and caught a glimpse of a big orange ball at the south horizon, lighting up an otherwise darkening turquoise-headed-towards-purple sky. Gorgeous!!! But so cold my face was stiff when I got home, just a mile-and-a-half up the road, and that was before it started blowing and snowing again. Today, on the other hand, the cold and snow has turned to rain. :( What a downer. But then I got home, sweaty from spin class and rain-drenched from the hike home, and what should greet me but a package from MomOnBike!!!! :D Hot chocolate :p :p :p Which shall I choose? Raspberry? Amaretto? Hazelnut? White Mocha? Here I sit, showered and suppered, cozy in my new snowflake-patterned smartwool socks. I'm gonna go put on a sweater and that bright red scarf (what a statement that is for a greying old "duck"! ;) ), sip my cocoa ... and gloat. Well. DH can have cocoa too if he wants. We have plenty of ordinary cocoa he can mix up.
p.s. You are so right! There is no such thing as bad weather, only inadequate clothes. And sometimes adequate clothes means four well-insulated walls and a roof. :)
I'm glad you like them. :)
I liked the socks so much I had to get a pair for myself.
To My Secret Sister in Los Osos, (iirc?? sp??), California anyway
I have worn the lovely little hat *every day*
Haven't eaten it yet but I sure feel like it as I admire the colour and textures when I put it on or take it off.
to my secret sister...THANK YOU!!!! I love the socks, littlemissmatched, so cool, I saw them around xmas time and got some for my daughter. she better not even think of borrowing mine! (for those who haven't heard of them....3 socks...all different..mine all have flowers and are purple and orange) The chocolate ...hmm yum..3 bars scharffen berger...look soo yummy. hopefully I won't need to use the crash paks road rash survival kit...but I have it now just in case. And the warm hat!! what timing...we are having a real cold arctic blast right now...this morning it was 0 degrees with a wind chill factor of -20 brrrr. The hat is a JYTTE (you-tay) with bicycles on it....SO COOOL thank you very much...i am soooo smiling :) :)
I'm in the Come Home From a Horrible Day At Work to a Wonderful Secret Sister package club. :D
My package included a recycled pop-bottle head band (in 7-UP bottle green!), come cocoa and cider packs, a nifty mug filled with Dove chocolates to put the cocoa in (I'll take care of the Doves first ;) ), and some neat Smart Wool socks. I love it all.
Thanks, Secret Sis, (I'll do some sleuthing later, right now, I'm drinking cocoa).
My wonderful secret sister sent me a variety of Larabars! My favorite so far has been the apple pie. YUMMY! And, a giant bag of brown rice pasta in spirals. I haven't seen much spiral pasta I can eat, so what a blessing. Plus a cool "bike to work day" bag. I'm going to use it for my library books.
I got a feeling my SS rides a Trek ... hee hee. :D
SS sorry to keep you waiting at the mailbox:( I am finishing up the last treats and sending it out tomorrow. Love, B
I arrived home to a great surprise! A box of goodies!! Thanks for taking the time to notice my gambling (ahem) hobby. :D Love the hand made gloves! Really!! I will be wearing the socks on my commute home and enjoying the cliff bar after I get to work in the morning. I am putting the dice in my car. Thanks again!!!
Toni
To cap it off a &^%$ Monday on my way home someone committed some manner of crime at the BART station I parked at. The station is closed and trains won't stop there till it's investigated but my car is there ... the easiest thing was to get off at the next station. There's a bus straight to my home, I'll bike to work tomorrow and get the car on the way back.
but what's this? Warm woolie socks! and pink cheerful PI socks to wear on the ride to work tomorrow. Thanks OTG, I'm in cozy socks and will have some hot chocolate.
I'm feeling better. :D
THANK YOU SS in Glocaster! I loved my present! I was sitting at home ILL Yesturday, and went to the door annoyed I'd been yanked off my sickbed...
THEN I was happy cause it was my SS package!!! Damn!!!! Are we all like freaking CONNECTED??? I've read other stories about how the gifts show up on a bad day... but this is just UNCANNY.
A polar bottle Filled with GOO!!!! and SUNSCREEN and lipbalm and cute summer socks and these hershey's chocolate kisses coated in candy (the chocolate had melted in the heat LOL) Really great!!!
Customs had attacked it again too. Oh well. :D They musn't have been able to see throught the bottle.
To my SS. You have been very patient. I apologize profusely for the delay in getting your package to it. Finally, though, I have it all together, and will be put in the mail toodayyy! I promise I promise!:o
Yay! I got a package today! All the way from Phoenix and full of lots of goodies. Those toe covers will really come in handy. I've been having trouble keeping my toes warm because I can't fit thick wooly socks in by cycling shoes. Problem is now solved by something I didn't even know existed! And I'm just getting ready for a bit of hot chocolate tonight. BF is off to the pub to watch footy so I'm having a quite restful evening at home with chocolate and a cuddly cat. Ghirardelli is far more exclusive than what I normally throw together! So thank you gazillions!!!
And thank you from Susie Q too! She was very happy with her brand new box and paper to play with. For some reason she loves being curled up in a cardboard box, or sitting on paper, or biting cardboard. (and she is my very cute little cat in case you were wondering...)
Dragged myself down to the mailbox on another rainy, cold day (by Phoenix standards), and there was a package all the way from Israel! I'm so excited over all the thoughtful contents, and can't wait to try the homemade jam and the honey (I have to figure out how to keep this stuff away from my husband).
And an herb pillow! Can't wait to try it out!
Thank you so much, Margaret!
WOOT I squeked in my present to the post office today. Sorry to my secret sister for making her wait so long.
I received a package from my SS. No return addy, but it seems to have come from Massachusetts. hmmm.....trying to figure this out.
What a great surprise it was! It has been so cold here, I haven't ridden in a week. All I want to do is get under the electric blanket, but now I'm more inspired.
I received a fleece balaclava, so pretty and WARM! Chocolate, hey who doesn't love that! A bike journal, I can't wait to start on it. It has a place to write about your ride. A great bike diary I can look back at some day. PowerBar gels. Very pretty trek socks that perfectly match my Trek 7.2fx, and a purple sprocket keychain, which is just in time since I broke my other keychain last week.
You certainly made my "dang-it's-cold-and-I-have-to-run-a-concession-stand-with-the-junior-class-all-day-Saturday", weekend MUCH more enjoyable!
Thank you so much!
