c'mon snap - it will be fun!!!
for those wanting a short(er), flatter ride, you can turn around in fairfax where the super good coffee roastery is. it is also where the all organic yummy ice cream place is. I know it will probably be too cold, but this ice cream is insanely good.
Did I hear 25 mile Bay Trail? :)
Take this thread to Cuba :D
Hey all-
I would also be keen on the idea of a shorter ride option. I might be fine for the 50, but I have been off my bike for a while, though have been working out and spinning. But my last long rides were over the summer in Houston, so while hot and windy there wasn't a hill in sight
Looking forward to seeing you all again!
Hey - I think the weather may be decent!
Who's coming?
SK/Bubba
Bobs
V/Thom
BikerZ
Snap??
Trek??
PABadger?
Deanna?
Roguedog?
kjay?
Winddance?
Anyone else?
Yeah, I need to know how many cookies to bring. What's your fav MP?
V.
Thanks for rounding us up for answers. After reading all your messages, I believe I need more bicycling experience before I ride with you all. And, I still need to get toe warmers for these cooler temps before riding more than a couple of hours. Have a great ride, and some day I will join you. Thanks, again.
Oh, come on Kjay - we're really not scary. Well Jo is... but the rest of us are perfectly normal. Where did I put my axe? Oh yeah, Jo has it...

If there will be a shorter ride, I'm still interested. My back's a little out of whack (that's a medical term), so 30 miles should feel like 100 for me, and take me just as long.
Anyone can turn around in San Anselmo or Fairfax for a shorter ride. You can do 10, 15, 20 miles - whatever!
Oatmeal raisin......
This I have to see. Veronica and a raisin, even one raisin.
We don't call her the Princess for nothing.
I would definately be up for the shorter loop option. I am still recovering from a sinus infection, I feel fine, but have very little voice still.
Anyone else from the south bay still thinking about going and want to carpool? if you want me to drive I can put my bike on my roof rack, and have room for one in my trunk with the back seats down. Let me know.
Ellen
Deanna - that is still the plan.
V - peanut butter cup would also be good - your call!
Who says I can only bring one kind? :D
V.
I can't make it this time, sorry! Have a great time everyone!
No one at all!!!
Sorry you can't join us Snap.
For those folks wanting to do a shorter ride - there seem to be plenty of you. I will have maps, and we can talk at the ride start about what the various turn around options are. Do not be put off by the distance of this ride, because you can make it your own.
I think I can make it then.
Edited to ask: Should I bring anything to go with the champagne?
Well, I have crackers, and I think someone may bring some cheese. I may have more cheese. If you can think of something simple and snacky - maybe salty - that would be great. No worries, though - we're mostly about the beverage!
I'm going to the Farmer's Market in the morning to see what I can find. I'm hoping the aubergine pesto people with be there. Maybe some satsumas? Dates? Pistachios? This time of year the various growers start taking vacation. Don't they know we have to eat 365 days a year?
Vacationing farmers - The nerve!
I have dozens of satsumas. (On the subject of citrus, I decided that given the later start of the ride the champagne should be straight and not mimosa form. Executive decision. If anyone wants a mimosa, BYOjuice.)
Anything you see that looks good would be fun.
this sounds so fun: can i come too?
i've lurked around a couple times and remembered you'd planned this ride. i got the biker bug last spring and this year hope to train up and do a week long ride in summer. so i'd love to meet y'all tomorrow. and bring my girlfriend with me too, from the east bay. we're up for the shorter ride, maybe more, will see how much stamina tomorrow brings. i'm a food bar junkie, will bring a bunch of my holdings to share!
Aw darn. I'd been looking forward to this ride but a last minute family thing came up that I have to go to. :( It's not even a fun family thing.
Gah.. have fun and someone make sure my glass of bubbly doesn't get wasted! (not that I think that'd happen!)
Hi everyone - I'm sorry to report that I won't be able to join you guys on this ride today - I have to meet someone at the airport. I'm bummed to miss the ride, and seeing all of you, and the bubbly! It looks like a beautiful day, and I know you all will have a great time!
But I'll be joining in in spirit in the toast to MP for being back on her bike! Cheers and happy new year to all!
- Ann
I'm going to have to bail, I've just got too #$%&!@* much work to do - my company slipping a feature release because of me would not be a good thing.
I was hoping to see everyone and get at least one chance to ride together this year. Darn. Well, have a good ride, and welcome back to cycling, MP!
I'm a last minute bailer too. Looking forward to the next chance though. Have fun.
Hope you are still planning on joining us.... all the other shorter riders seem to have bailed, and I don't know that I will be up to a full 50 miles yet... I will be leaving Palo Alto in about 30 minutes, hope to see you soon!
MP: I will PM you my cell phone number just in case I go missing :-)
Running late - but we are coming.
V.
Sorry I missed today, you guys. I'm not feeling very well. :(
How was the ride?
It was a lovely day. It was nice to see everyone and chat at Casa MP after.
V.
aw.. shucks.. I would much rather have been with you folks. How'd you do MP?
Thanks Rogue - we missed you and the others!
It was a good ride. I'm still limited by the stupid heart rate guideline my pulmonologist set, but following it is the right thing to do. So other than being silly slow at times (which does allow for a very good warm up!), I feel good. Creepiest to note that I actually feel as though I can inflate my entire lung - which is what I spent a couple of months trying to explain to my doctor while we were trying to figure out what the problem was.
And the super cool thing is that while I was very concerned about losing my confidence descending (because I spent a coule of years having lost my nerve descending), I actually feel BETTER on the descents than I did. Which took me a while to figure out - why would I feel more confident descending after not riding for 6 months??? I finally figured out that it wa sbecause of the bike fit I got at PK Racing during my convalescence. The bike just feels like part of me - very cool!
So I am very optimistic that I'll eventually make a full recovery. Yay!
And we had good champagne and snacks after which was super fun. My daugher has defected and decided that V's cookies are the best EVER....
