currently training for a semi cross country going south to north from New Orleans to Lake Itasca Minnesota along the Mississippi river in may and june with my sister. This will be supported tour with Woman Tours.
Looking forward to it as I was only able to accomplish the first third as far as Memphis the year after I started biking. (5 years ago.)
After the southern Tier with the same group two years ago, I feel ready to handle just about anything but I am working on TITS time.

There is a bike route from Swartz Bay (Ferry dock. drop off in Sidney) that will take you 35 km. one way into downtown Victoria. Part on path, part on road with lanes. It's actually a lovely way to see the area. There is a winery..Muse winery about 10 km. from ferry dock.Quote:

I am "adminvelo" for any blogposts that you see for velo-city blog below. We wrote several blog posts on various areas of Vancouver Island. There are more photos, trip suggestions and destinations. Might be worth checking out a zodiac boat or kayak trip for a few hrs. The west coast is quite different from the east coast of North America.

I'm doing a tour in the Texas Hill Country with Adventure Cycling in early April. It will be the first time in decades that I spend 6 straight nights camping, but I'll try to HTFU. :)

One summer, we cycled out from Quebec City and used the Velo Quebec bike routes to make up our own local /goat cheese tour. Yummy...which of course, meant sampling some. We couldn't carry some cheeses for so long without refrigeration.
But Quebec actually does promote its local cheese farms in southern Quebec. The cheeses are like the stronger European cheeses.

Someone posted a Living Social offer in the forum last October and bought... It is a bit intimidating, but should be fun.
I did a WomanTours Texas Hill Country trip last April and was surprised by how much I enjoyed the area. Beautiful landscapes (if you go for stark countrysides]. It was my first experience w cattle guards--of which there are many! I look forward to cycling in that area again some time.
In mid-March I'm doing a WomanTours trip in the Tucson area. :D

You don't even have to go to European. Out in the rural areas, more people speak French more often daily. (Yes, there will be some folks fluenty bilingual.)

My husband and I are planning a two week trip to California, to Santa Rosa to see the opening stage of the Tour of California! We are taking our bikes and plan to take several side bicycle trips. One that I have been wanting to do is along the America River. I am not sure of the name of the trail, but it goes for many miles through the California countryside. I can hardly wait to explore it!
We'll stop in Lompoc, in Santa Barbara county where we used to live and ride through the hills and flower fields of that area.
We'll catch another stage or two or the race along the way south and then go through Arizona to see family.
We are still in the planning stages of this trip, so will know more details later.
My absolute dream would be to meet Chris Horner and/or Levi Leipheimer! :)
