I received a call from the marines once because my name was referred to them by my boyfriend who was a former marine (I am not one but give him credit), who's name was referred to them from one of his marine buddies. I was kind enough to pass on a few more of my friend's names who were former marines. :D
Maybe they're short of accordion players.
I worked as a civilian scientist for the DoD for about 7 years, several of which with a full-bird as my immediate supervisor. It was an ongoing joke with him about how I would never make it in the military. I claimed it was that I could never stand to show up someplace just to find out everyone else was wearing my 'outfit', he claimed it was a little problem I had with blindly following authority. :) He was a great boss and I hated when he transitioned out of there. That was one thing I hated there, seemed you would just get some folks in that were really good and a couple years later they were gone and some bozo scientist came in their place. Bozos like me hung around a lot longer! ;)
