My favorite quote right now is "I didn't say it was your fault. I said I was going to blame you!"
My husband decided to go left after I went right. So, I turned around. In that moment, I lost my balance just enough to go off the path. I figured - no big deal, I'll just ride for a bit on the grass rather than get my wheel caught between the grass and the pavement. HUGE mistake. My bike went head first in to a 3 foot hole covered by leaves and long grass.
I guess I should be glad I didn't land on my head and break my neck. My right knee hit something and it swelled up. I dislocated my left thumb. I think I have a rotator cuff injury to my right shoulder. I didn't realize my thumb was out and when I pushed myself up off the ground, I put it back in without realizing it until the pain shot through my arm and down my spine.
So, lesson learned -- don't go off the path! Yikes!
Once I took inventory of myself, I looked at my bike. I was sure something horrible must have happened to it. Nope. Nada. Zilch. Good as new.
I rode it 10 miles home and it's fine.
1600 of Motrin and a few glasses of wine and I'm doing okie dokie. Other than the pain to my thumb, knee and shoulder.
