Our area has had rain for 10 days--10 days!! --and there's more rain in the forecast. :mad: The river is rising close to the levels it did when it flooded for 7 long weeks last year. :( There may be sunshine on Tuesday and then it's back to more rain. Maybe I should build an ark. I would never make it in Seattle, lol.

Yeah, but as a former Portland denizen, you get that #42 ranked rain a mm at a time, so it seems like it's "raining" constantly.
What most native Portlandians seemed to consider "rain", I wouldn't even break an umbrella out for - it's more like mist. Grey, foggy, damp, mist. All the time.

It rains a lot in areas near the coast. (Arkansas is not near the coast, but we do get hurricane remnants.) But I know from living here that the rainfall is punctuated by many days of sunny skies, as it is in Mobile, Baton Rouge and Pensacola.
It is my impression of Seattle that it might not rain that much, but the sky is gray or overcast more often. So a comparison of annual days of sunshine might be in order. :) The gray skies are what I object to the most.

But Mimi, I bet you don't have steam rising off the bike path in the broiling August sun after a 2 inch deluge of rain from a quick passing thunderstorm either. So 2 inches of rain and sun in the same day!

Sun - I'm with you. Lots of rain here, too. Not as much as you, but it started on Wednesday and been "on and off" since. Now it looks like it will be mostly "on" through Tuesday.
One more thing: DIRTY PAWS, wet dog smell, antsy goldens with too much energy...
I, too, need the sun. I don't mind some rain, as long as the sun returns quickly. Multiple rainy/grey days don't appeal to me.
I couldn't live in Seattle either, for the same reason. Nothing against Seattle. What I need to do is move to AZ!!
I'm tired of it too. I can't even walk in the yard without sinking. It was suppose to hold off until 3 today, so I was headed to St. Louis for the River Des Peres Ramble. Started raining on me before I was on the road for 5 minutes. I just turned around and came home. I'm not up for riding in the rain.
the difference is, you can go out and ride easily and safely during most of our "rainy" days. It's a rare day when we get the kind of rain that makes floods and even our thunderstorms are rare and puny compared to any of yours.
I've given up trying to keep the laminate flooring mopped with the large footie prints. :o Niki and Kali want to go for their trot but I'm not in the mood today to ride in the rain--again. :rolleyes:Quote:

Bmccasland, currently the flood alert is for Wendesday through Friday of next week. Flood stage is 17, river is rising to 15 and will crest Wednesday. I really feel for our farmers. They couldn't plant for the rains and now that they have, they may lose it. :(

The saddest video we have is one of "rain" falling off of the roof of our patio cover. Yes, rain was so infrequent, my DH felt compelled to take a video of it.
Yesterday we were coming back from our ride on the first sun-break in an awfully long time, through the flooded fields, and we saw two deer bounding across a field, then across our road, then into the next field... and then they had rather suddenly stopped and walked slowly... we wondered why (deer interval training?) until they got to the edge of the field and stepped out and the mud all over their hooves showed exactly why they were unable to proceed. I'm glad none of 'em actually got sucked down... and whether or not they ever do. I can't help but think a deer could break a leg in that stuff.
