I'm looking for some grease to use on my seatposts (one aluminum seatpost in a steel frame and one carbon seatpost in an aluminum frame).
What do you recommend (or very much dislike--so I can stay away)? :)

I had to put carbon paste on mine, to keep it from slipping down....

Any old grease will do on the aluminum post. Either nothing or carbon paste on the carbon post.
You can also use Liquid Torque on the carbon post, but it won't be necessary unless you're getting a lot of slippage.
For metal on metal, grease is fine, or you may try an anti-seize grease.

The reddish stuff is carbon paste. I actually have to use it on my Aluminum Seatpost in my steel frame (I've started a thread about this elsewhere on TE months ago). Otherwise, it slips. And we've replaced the clamp with a good one:)

Here ya go: http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showt...light=Seatpost :)
*if* the LBS mechanic tightens it, it stays. Otherwise, it moves. They're telling me if I replace it with a Thompson seat post, it's much less likely to happen.
But a carbon post in an aluminum frame - definitely go with the carbon paste.
