Any slowpokes near Burlington, N.C.?
I just discovered this site and the discussion forum and am having a blast with it!! I usually ride alone or with my husband who is way faster than me. Sometimes he will leave first and ride really hard for a few miles and then come back and get me so he is not so frustrated by my pace. I like to ride at a rate that pushes me sometimes and sometimes I just want to ride for fun. Is there anyone out there near me who is in a similar situation and would like to ride together occasionally. My typical pace is about 14-16mph. Is that embarrassingly slow? I'm not sure what normal is for a woman. I just know I suck compared to my husband.:p
New Club in Burlington, NC
Teresa,
I realize that you posted this a few years ago, but do you still live and ride in Burlington? I participate in a co-ed group of all levels and we do group rides all through the week and weekend. Our main rides are on Sundays at 2pm weather permitting - this is a NO DROP ride. Meaning that you will not be left behind in times that you cannot keep up. Let me know if you would like more information!
Thanks,
Carmen

Hi Theresa,
Looks like this post was a couple of years ago...hopefully you are still riding. What you discribed then is how I am now. My husband and I ride in Burlington with several different groups. My husband likes to ride fast but slows down enough to ride with me on Tues and Thurs night urbans in Burlington (actually he rides with this group without me sometimes). We meet at J&L bicycle shop and do about 17 to 23 miles at around 11 to 13 mph pace.
The ride you may be most interested in is a Sun ride at 2pm meeting in Elon at the ballpark. This ride is about 35 to 40 miles at 15 to 17 mph pace. Both men and women enjoy all of these rides....both of you could join us. If your husband wanted to ride fast pace, there are those rides in Burlington also.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Rejina
