Planning bike routes.
I'm finally back home, with a chance to take 2 weeks off from work and clock in some serious cycling!! So happy :D.
Just out of curiosity, do you guys ride mainly on big roads, small roads or just the dedicated bike paths(question going out to all you road riders)?
The reason why I ask is because of safety concerns (both vehicular & criminal persons). I have a single route which I've worked to death and am thinking of planning a couple of new nice ones.
So any general tips?

I generally don't like bike paths. Too many walkers, runners etc. I ride roads. I have to ride through town to get to the country roads. So I ride almost every type of road.
Check routeslips.com and bikely.com for routes in your area.

I like county roads. Less traffic and the people seem friendlier. I've only had a handful of times when anyone honked in anger, yelled or crowded me.

I like small, more rural roads the best. Luckily I've got many nearby.
