Barbaro euthanized; owner calls it "the right decision"
Cali - I just heard myself. I am so sad....he was such a trooper. Poor guy but at the same time I am sure it's best not to put him through any more...:( :(
yes.... i totally agree about the pain and suffering... but it still makes me soooo sad.... (i'm a big pushover for animals....)
i hate when i read this stuff at work cuz my eyes are all watery....
Me too....
I am trying to get to the New Bolton Center website and it must be slammed because I can't get it to load...
I was working at Santa Anita all weekend and after the latest setback, everyone was pretty resigned to his fate. It was just too much.
The Eclipse Awards - racing's equivalent to the Academy Awards - were held here last week (should have gone, but I didn't) and the whole industry was behind him. It's such a shame.
If there could be one positive to come out of all this, it's the flood of supprt and money that has come into help other injured horses like Barbaro.
Very sad. :(
Well said, Blue. I am sure they have learned so much in the months that they have had Barbaro as a patient. When you think about his short life, almost 1/4 of it has been spent in pain. It is time he has no more pain...

wow.... the comments people are making at that site are horrible.... :(
Now we know where Forum trolls come from...
Cali - I had not looked at the comments - just read the article and thought the "good night, Sweet Prince" was so nice.
Don't let the comments bother you. Clearly they were all written by testosterone-laden-SuperBowl-watching-belching-slobs who care nothing about anything except stocking up on Bud Light & Doritos for the big game...
i loved the title and the picture was gorgeous... but ya..... i had to stop reading the comments......
i've been looking at pictures.... i LOVE the little white patch on his head.....
Oh that's so sad. He was such a beautiful, courageous horse. I hate it had to end this way, I had a lot of hope for him. He'll be missed by everyone and Always a Champion in our hearts.
