The 5th Annual God's Country Cycling Challenge
Tormenting climbs, treacherous descents, and tantalizing flats are part of the varied terrain featured in the 100-mile route for Blood, Sweat and Gears - God's Country Century Cycling Challenge.
The demanding route, which showcases the mountain communities of Watauga County, North Carolina, requires over
9,000 feet of total climbing. Highlights of the route include a 21 mile section of the Blue Ridge Parkway, a strenuous climb over the 4,500 foot gap at Snake Mountain, and a 10 mile "flat" on old US 421. A 57-mile segment is offered for those riders who prefer the sanity of a challenging but shorter course. The 57 mile ride ends before the climb over Snake Mountain. Shuttle back to the start is available for riders and bikes.
This is a fully supported ride with 6 aide stations for refueling with water and lots of carbs!
***"It's a great area for riding, very hilly, but I'd say it's the best area for training in the whole of the United States."
