From the website (http://208.106.130.204/c4racing.htm):

Long ago, a 22-year old amateur named Bob Roll set his sights on a race coming to his home turf—a race up Mt. Diablo. Bob knew this would be his race—he had trained up the mountain’s Northgate Road every other day. Race day came and Bobke assaulted the mountain like a man possessed, beating out the pro favorites and taking a surprise victory in the 1983 Mount Diablo Hill Climb.

Over 20 years later, sanctioned bike racing is back on Mt. Diablo! Pegasus Bicycle Works and Touchstone Climbing & Fitness present the Mount Diablo Hill Climb on Saturday July 8.

This 10K Individual Time Trial will launch at the entry kiosk on Northgate Rd. and finish just short of the junction. After launching, you’ll get one last chance to get your climbing legs on by speeding through 1 ½ miles of scenic gentle rollers before heading up into the steep, tightly-twisting turns of the majestic mountainside.

Any of the TE racer girls racing? K2? Velogirl?

If you saw me, you'd know why I wouldn't race a hill-climb.

Now, if there was a race descending Diablo, I'd be all over it!

But, I'm off doing the Death Ride that day anyways. Hmmm, that's a big hill-climb, but no pressure for competition (at least competition with skinny little five-foot girls).
