Since the board has been kinda quiet lately I thought I'd share. This is also a cool story about women and riding and boosting self-esteem :)
I was on a casual road-ride with "the girls", all women who have been riding 5 years or less. They are impressive women; moms, professionals, competetive athletes in other sports.
We were heading home, turned a corner and faced a STIFF head wind. Until this point we had been sort of straggled along the road, chatting, not too worried about speed.
We regrouped and I asked them if they wanted to try a rotating echelon ( good description here (http://www.ultrafit.com/newsletter/january02.html#dirk) )
We had tried one once before with not-so-spectacular results. This time they were game.
Everybody hunkered down and stayed focused. What can I say....it was AMAZing. We were like one entity; a fully functioning machine.
When we all sat up, after we turned a corner and ducked the wind, the girls started whooping it up. We maintained 21-23 mph, and no one felt tired!
We can hardly wait for an opportunity to try our new-found team-time-trial skills again.
Look out USPS (ok maybe not) :D
