Yesterday, I completed my first metric century! They call it a 60 mile ride but in actuallity it was 63.88 miles. It was the River and Wind Challenge on Rails to Trails dirt gravel path with a slight incline in Western Pa. The weather was chilly and windy with a few thunderstorms along the way. I felt whipped last night but great today. No leg soreness at all. I am a bit dissapointed, however, my average speed was only 11.37 mph. I'm hoping the more I ride, the quicker I'll become.

Now I need to concentrate on getting ready for the next step completing a 100 miler. I have registered for the Sea Gull Century in Oct. in MD.

Cyclesome! Congrats!!!!! I am also doing a century in august (not a metric  ) I think you did a good job, it's important to listen to your body and fuel yourself. If you are not really sore the next day then you ate and drank when you needed and were prepared. I am sure you can work on the speed before october, good luck!!\

Congratulations! That's a big deal. Those rides are seldom exactly 62.5 (metric) or 100 (imperial) miles! "My" metric century last year was 66 miles. My friend and I deeply resented that last 4 miles, let me tell you! :o We were pretty proud to have done it, though. :D
