After much procrastination, I’ve finally got the new order process ready and Snap has graciously agreed to collect the orders with payment via PayPal. If we can get the orders collected by June 14, the orders will be shipped the week of August 7th. They’ll go off to the equally gracious yellow (to avoid CA taxes) who will ship the individual jerseys.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Amici Veloci story, here is the short version. Back in August 2004 I was diagnosed with MS and was open about it on this forum. I decided I wanted to ride in the Top Hat Classic 2005 (a local MS ride) and I suddenly received an incredible email from jobob, snap, aka_kim, veronica and Adventure_Girl. They wanted to be on a team with me, and I'd never met them! Wow, was I an emotional mess. Our team grew to 15 strong and we were the largest non-corporate fundraising team (thanks to many of you). Out of that we decided that we needed a jersey but that also we would try to ride one charity ride a year. We want anyone and everyone who wants a jersey to have to opportunity to buy one and encourage all to wear it in a charity event.

The details:
DEADLINE: JUNE 14
Photos: go to the photobucket link above
Items available: See order form which is for information purposes only. You will need to give snap all the details on the PayPal transaction.
**We need 25 minimum short sleeve/sleeveless items for the min order.
**25 min also applies to arm warmers and or long sleeve jerseys.
Shipping: included in cost
Payment: PayPal only
Fit: if you have a local shop that carries Voler team kit, ask to try it on. Feel free to ask anyone who already has an AV or Cinderella jersey for fit advice and we’ll try to help. That photo is of me in a size med women's club cut short sleeve jersey (I'm 5' 3 1/2", 135 lbs and have generous boobage).

If you know anyone that isn’t on this forum that might like a jersey, please feel free to direct them to www.amiciveloci.org. I’ll post this same info there. I’m sure there are several folks on bikejournal that would be interested, but I don’t think I’m allowed to post anything about selling jerseys there. I’ll ask slantz, but send your buddies emails!

May we all be Amici Veloci, fast friends.

Special thanks to spazz for her design help. I finally get to meet her Saturday!

SK: is that 25 a combined number?? ie: 25 arm warmers and/or ls jerseys?? 25 ss and/or sleeveless jerseys??

SadieKate

25 combined total for shortsleeve, sleeveless and windvest

A separate combined 25 min total for arm warmers and longsleeve jerseys.

Arm warmers would be nice. But I have red ones that wouldn't clash too badly.

DH "broke" my Death Ride vest at Davis. (Zipper stuck and he broke it trying to fix.) I think it is fixable, but I still think I deserve an AV vest and jersey for my trouble.)

:p Go out and do a sales campaign. Get everybody you know to order one. Get everyone riding VCAN to order one. Get TsPoet's mom and aka_Kim's mom to order one. Get . . . oh you get the gist.

I'm trying to decide between a longsleeve jacket and a jersey -- or both. It's only money. Right?

BTW, you full-figured gals. I took the elastic out of my "unisex" vest and hemmed it up. Fits really nicely now.

Arm warmers would be nice. But I have red ones that wouldn't clash too badly. The jersey is the standard Voler red so their basic arm warmers will match.

I have an alterations place in Folsom that does a pretty good job of hemming jerseys and moving zippers if you want me to take it to them, see what they can do.

I think my mom is avoiding Cmac - she could never get used to the seat on her bike and always felt unstable and has gone recumbent trike! (like I told her in the first place). Anyway, think she's a little afraid of Cmac being dissapointed in her.
But, looks like she's putting in about 75 miles/week - I think everyone should be thrilled for her, regardless of what she's riding.
Maybe I'll buy her a jersey - she needs to get her first.

There is no live link to Snap. You can print out the order form to get all the details and then enter her email address in PayPal.

I'm sorry. We are just private individuals and have no way to protect against bounced checks. The bookkeeping and records are much more simple if we limit payment to PayPal. Poor Snap went through this before and checks caused her martini consumption to soar.

Do you have a friend who would be comfortable using PayPal? Maybe a cycling friend who would also like a jersey? :)

SadieKate

PayPal is an online system which allows you to send funds to anyone who has a PayPal account and email. You can link to a credit card or bank account (I'm doing all this from memory). It sprung to fame because it has become the payment system of choice for eBay and many internet retailers. Read more here.

Which fit is better to cover (not emphasize) belly and hips, womens' club or mens'?

Dual directional zipper
3 rear pockets

Raglan sleeves
Set-in sleeves

Sounds like something I need.

I'd totally love to order. I just can't quite figure out what size I would be. I'm right on the cusp between XS and SM...all of the jerseys I have that fit me are an XS.

So...do you find that these run true to size, or are they smaller or larger?

Jersey Styles.

The men's club cut is more straight up and down, the women's has a bit of curve, and no elastic in the hem (men's has elastic) Race cut fits tighter than club.

Do you have a shop nearby that Voler jerseys you can try?

Everyone who has sizing questions. Best if you tell us the brand, model and size jerseys fit you the best. Hopefully, someone who is similar in size can over some help. These jerseys are sized the same as the Cinderella jerseys also.

I don't know...probably, but I doubt I'd find anything in a women's XS to try on. I usually get laughed at when I ask about stuff like that. I'd love to take a look on Saturday!

I have the orange Sportful ss jersey that's on TE. The XS fits me and is about the same dimensions as the XS in this jersey, so the XS club fit is my current fit hypothesis due to the curvyness, although I'm concerned it'll be too short. A size S Hincapie that I have is very roomy. (I know. I have such problems...)

You can count on me for one jersey, a pair of armwarmers, and possibly a wind vest, though. I just have to figure out which jersey!

I'll bring my collection of AV attire to the Diablo ride on Saturday to try on. That'll be a women's size Med short-sleeve (club cut), a women's size med sleeveless (race cut, since club cut isn't available in sleeveless, alas), size small armwarmers, and a size small (unisex) windvest.

I had purchased the size small (unisex) windvest in a fit of optimism back when I was about 10 pounds lighter than I am now  . It was a bit snug on my hips even back then, but now that I've piled back on the pounds    I've decided it's just too small for me now to even attempt to alter it.

I think it would fit someone with size 8 hips. Not "optimistic" (or delusional) size 8, a real size 8 :D I don't like my clothing too snug, so maybe someone who wears a size 10 would tolerate it, but I sure don't.

So, if anyone is interested, I'd be glad to sell my unisex small windvest, which has never been worn, and I'll order myself a medium. The windvest is absolutely stunning, by the way.

I'd just as soon sell it to someone at the Diablo ride this Saturday, or someone who is going to be at the Little Red Riding Hood ride, so I don't need to deal with postage (altho I could be talked into express-mailing it to someone so they get it prior to LRRH). So first dibs go to anyone at the Diablo ride or is doing LRRH. Please PM me. Cost is whatever the windvests are going for in the current order.

- Jo.

SK - What a cool story...and another vote for wanting to read the 'long version'!

Whomever designed this jersey did a bang up job! I also feel a bit like an interloper here as such a newbie to this forum, but I'm definitely planning on placing an order. If I get a wind vest, I could probably get away with wearing it over my MS team jersey for our ride here in September, right? That said...I really need more sleeveless jerseys. Hmmm....how to decide which items I want/need?! :D

Sorry, this is a custom order, one time shot. You really need to find a shop stocking Voler or someone who has one or use the sizing chart. Voler is used for a lot of event and race team jerseys.

Post your height, weight, bust size, anything that will help us help you. Someone may be very similar in build and can give you a recommendation. Again, what jerseys fit you well for comparison?

I have a gigantic box of sizing samples (including thermal stuff) coming tomorrow. I will have it with me Saturday to try after the ride, so everyone who can needs to be there!

I must ship back by June 12 but will do my best to have them available locally.

Other sizing ideas are to check with your local clubs, many of whom use Voler jerseys.

Hey, SK... Wasn't there something about Voler jersey fit that had to do with the fabric they used? I tried your LRRH medium club jersey. It fits me differently than my AV medium club jersey. So if people try on Voler products in a store, they need to know size, cut and fabric. Don't they? Not trying to make things more complicated....

I'd also like to mention that the arm warmers run a little small. They are called "unisex" sizing. I would normally consider myself a unisex small. But I have medium arm warmers, and they are just about right. Unisex small arm warmers would have been too small for me.

Well, let me share that I have the same jersey with a different design. I ordered a medium (no elastic, shaped cut) and I wish I had ordered a large. It fits, but the front is shorter than I would like (probably because of boobage) and it is very tight in the bust. If I didn't wear a smasher-type sports bra, I couldn't wear it. I am a 36 D, and I usually wear an 8 in pants and a 10 in blouses. Medium on t shirts from places like Eddie Bauer and Old Navy.

Hope that's helpful to some of you!

AuntieK
05-25-2006, 11:54 AM
Slinkedog, in other jerseys, do you normally wear a medium? Is the one you're refering to a race or club cut?
The reason I ask is that I usually wear a medium jersey. I was going to order a medium based on SadieKate's size description. But after reading your post, I wonder if I should get a large. If it's tight across the chest area, what's the fit like elsewhere?

AuntieK... first off, I love your tagline!! :)

Let's see... Shebeest jerseys I can wear a medium. That's about the only brand of women's jerseys I have. All the rest are hubby's old racing jerseys.

I think the Voler one I have is the women's club cut. It has no elastic in the hem and is shaped at the waist. It is pretty fitted on me all the way through the jersey, but especially tight in the bust.

I hope that's helpful!

jerseys: mens large, womens XL (race cut?) womens L (club cut?)
arm skins: both the velogirls and TA are medium. the TA's fit well, the VG's a little tight, don't know why since they are the same size etc, guess my arms bulk up in pink?-heh.

I generally wear a medium: 36C, 150#, wide hips, skinny arms, normal waist

AV men's sleeveless race cut in medium is snug everywhere. I ordered the mens jersey thinking it would be longer in the torso than the womens but the tight waist band is a real downer.

cinderella women's club cut in medium was too small. I traded it for a large and have a lot more room in the bust area.

summary - women's large club cut works best for me

Both jerseys in this photo are women's club cut mediums. Jo and Veronica can give you fit particulars.

If you are at all concerning that your measurements put you on the line between 2 sizes, you will probably be better off with the next larger size.

If you are at all concerning that your measurements put you on the line between 2 sizes, you will probably be better off with the next larger size.

Medium women's club cut should work fine for you. What's your pants size?

I'm about 5'7", 145 pounds, 34A on top, and I wear a size 10. The medium women's club cut short-sleeve jersey fits me about perfectly. There is a bit of room left over for more boobage (as with all of my clothing :p ) but it fits fine on my hips.

I also have a medium women's race cut sleeveless, since race cut was all that was available for sleeveless. It has elastic on the bottom and it's cut less generously over the hips. At first I didn't like it because it was a bit snug on my hips, but as I wear it, it rides up a bit and it doesn't bother me, so it's fine. I really don't want to alter it or remove the elastic. In retrospect, I think were I to do it again I would order a large in the race cut (which is precisely what I did for the sleeveless LRRH jersey, I'll find out eventually if that was a good approach).

But bear in mind I do not like snug clothing.

As for arm warmers, I don't have large arms and I went for the unisex small, but I find them uncomforatble. You might want to try mediums.

If they end up being too big for you, you might be able to swap them with someone who has a small pair, since as AG pointed out they do run a bit on the small side.

That's the coolest jersey I've EVER seen! Am interested in a short-sleeve jersey and arm warmers. I generally take XL in everything (unfortunately). Am 5'4", 175 (but shapely). ;) Don't suppose anyone here is anywhere near my shape, but if you are, you can confirm what I think I already know, ie, "XL" . . . And what size for arm warmers? My upper arm measures 13".

I'll be on a week-long bike tour around August 7 timeframe, but delivery timeframe should be something that can be worked out with snap, I hope.

Thanks for this super "thread" :D

One "hole" in my wardrobe is a thermo vest. Matching arm warmers would go well with that, if they fit. I do have black ones, Sugoi, XL. Will XL in these fit the same? I'll check the measurements list for the vest fit. But I'll wait til Monday or Tuesday to place to order. Don't want to count my insurance chickens before the settlement offer is on the table.

Yellow, your opinion for Tater? Not many people ordered smalls.

Tater, do you like race cut jerseys? In other words, traditional jerseys with eleastic at the bottom? You might be able to go either way depending on your hips. I hate elastic because it rides up and settles around my waist leaving a very unattractive gap of white goo showing.

Ok, I'm still having issues with the sizing. According to the chart, I'd be a small in every category except hips. Is that reason enough to order up for a medium? I have one jersey that is a little big, and the flapping in the breeze annoys me, so I'm torn.

I'm 5'4", 34A/B with a 27" waist...all my weight is in my butt and legs...so I'm pretty small on top.

Lesee...You have 2 inches on me and I am a 36A. I have the women's club cut in a small and wish that I had a med. It fits, but more snugly than I like. I have muscular arms/back/shoulders, so that may be part of why it fits the way it does. I am generally pretty true to a small in just about everything.

In Voler's OTHER fabric, I'm comfy in a small race cut. But as SK noted, this fabric fits a little tighter, hence the "smaller" feel.

Sadiekate, you have MS?
One of our very dear friends got diagnosed with ms about 5 years ago. he is a avid rider. He seems to be progressing slow, which is good. He is the reason we got into biking and love him dearly for introducing us to such a wonderful sport. He has been trying to talk us into going on this bike trip with him for years now. We finally said yes this year. We figured life is to short to not step out your front door and experience life like he does. Some day he will be in a wheel chair, which hurts my heart but he is not going down till he absolutly can't do it any more. I am sorry for your illness but it is awsome that you keep moving forward. You will be in my thoughts when we are on this trip with our friend!

It affects each of us differently and, while I don't know about your friend, there is no guarantee that a wheelchair will ever be necessary. Don't worry about the future for him. He's doing that all on his own. Just be there for the times when he may need help during a flare (which may be frequently or hardly ever) and buy him a jersey! :D

Thanks Sadiekate! He is an awsome friend! And we do support him as much as we can. He was an eye surgeon and had to quite after just 8 years in the field. He now has a hotel in Crested Bute. It was a smart move on he's part. He's kids have a harder time with the MS more the he does. He's boys were 9, 11 and 13 when he found out. A bummer for sure sence jim was only 43 when he found out he had it. But he didn't let it stop him moving forward. He doesn't really have flare ups like some. He is just slowly lossing control of he's legs. But he swears cycling keeps him strong and may be the reason he can still walk. If i may ask? What is yours like? I went as far as to read a story about a guy who has MS and it really helped me understand it for him.

Of course the best way to determine your size is find some Voler stuff and try it on. Remember that the fabric and also if it's race cut or club cut etc impacts the fit. Now, here's how this game works.

Read the quote and see if the TE gal is built anything like your bod. If so, their Voler fit info will help you! thought putting it all in one place could help.

So, while SK and Bubba were loading up the trailer this evening I asked "how can I help?" and Sarah responded "want to measure some jerseys?"

Um, OK.

So here are the measurements I took of the Voler sample jerseys in women's club cut.

For chest width (CW) I layed the jersey flat and measured across the front of the jersey directly below the armpits.

For front length (FL) I measured the center seam, from the bottom of the collar to the bottom of the jersey.

Likewise, for the rear length (RL), I measured from the bottom of the collar to the bottom of the jersey.

Alll measurements are in inches.

Hopefully these will help, along with Voler's size charts.

size-CW-FL-RL

XS 15 17.5 22.5
S 16 18.5 23.5
M 17.5 19 24
L 18 20 25.5
XL 19 21 26
2XL 21 22 26.5
3XL 21.5 22.5 28

Err, I can't make the columns line up but hopefully you can figure this out.

So how do the arm warmer sizes work again? My rough-as-guts measurement technique gives me 10-10.5" around the top of my arm, wrist comese up at 5.5" (I always knew I had skinny wrists, but..!) and about 17.5-18" between the two. There's a picture (http://www.voler.com/products.aspx?CID=3&PID=9) on the Voler site.

It fit like my other cycling jackets, and was cut a bit more generously due to the unisex sizing. It didn't have any female-specific darts or seaming or anything. I tried on the same as my women's jersey size and found it to be decently roomy.

Gosh darn. Paypal won't let me open an account. Apparently I opened one once with a different card, different address, whatever ... now I can't do a new one with my new card and new address. I give up.

Update: I decided to give it another try by logging in my email address (which is what the darn system recognized) and clicking the "forgot my password" button. Thought maybe I could update the credit card info once I was in. But no. Apparently my email system chucks out paypal messages as spam (maybe due to the gazillions of phishing attempts using the paypal address). Anyway, it's been about an hour now and the email from paypal with my new password has not yet arrived. I'm stumped. :(

OK - here's the count so far. We've not met minimum yet.

Short sleeve jersey - 24 (need 25)

Arm Warmers - 4 (need 25 if ordered alone, 15 if we get 10 long sleeve)

Long Sleeve - 6 (need 10)

It's still early, don't panic.

As the weather finally warms up in Chicago, I'm leaning more to sleeveless vs. jacket (yeah, Corsair, I know, get both!)

So now I'm debating--sleeveless jersey vs. windvest. It looks like the windvest could even be worn on its own as a jersey. Does anyone else own a windvest?

What do you think the chances of these arriving in my hands by August 18th are? OK Brandy, since this is the second time you asked, I'll take a crack at it.

This is what SadieKate posted in post #1 of this thread:

After much procrastination, I’ve finally got the new order process ready and Snap has graciously agreed to collect the orders with payment via PayPal. If we can get the orders collected by June 14, the orders will be shipped the week of August 7th. They’ll go off to the equally gracious yellow (to avoid CA taxes) who will ship the individual jerseys.

You know, there are some things that are simply out of snapdragen and sadiekate's hands.

Voler has given them an estimated shipment date, but the actual honest to goodness date that the order is shipped out from Voler is completely out of snapdragen and sadiekate's control.

It could be shipped out the beginning of the week of August 7th, or it could be shipped out the end of the week of August 7th (which would be August 11th). Or, it could be shipped out later. Stuff happens.

Furthermore, the order has to make it's way to yellow in Salt Lake City. So if the shipment departs from Voler near the end of the week of August 7th (that is, closer to August 11th), it might arrive at Casa Yellow well into the following week, if not later.

Plus, once the shipment arrives at Casa Yellow, yellow must find the time to re-package and to ship out every single order to each and every person who has placed an order. That adds another variable to the equation.

Bottom line, I think the chances of you receiving your jersey by August 18th are slim.

I hope this answers your question.

- Jo.

Earlier in this thread, AG (post # 51) and I (post #78) both discussed how we thought the arm warmers run small.

So, unless your arms are very slender, I suggest you order arm warmers in a size medium.

***gotta go back through the post, I think SadieKate posted about this....Yo, dudettes! I am back in Kahlifonia!

The LRRH jersey is made from Aries Microplus fabric which is a bit stretchier than SQPro which is used in the Amici Veloci jerseys. The LRRH jersey is definitely roomer than the AV jersey.

Shortsleeve group includes short sleeve jerseys (duh ;)) , sleeveless jerseys, windvests and thermal vests. See "Short Sleeve Options" on the order form.

Lise - it's made by Specialized. It's Specialized Kid Cobra Bicycle Helmet (flying pigs) model. I bought it at the LBS in Memphis. I just checked and saw one on ebay for $15 + shipping - and it looks like the seller is in Chicago. Go figure. I didn't see any online options for buying elsewhere in a quick search. There must be an online store somewhere, though.

It'll run around $30-35 at the LBS. It's nice because it's fully adjustable. So my son's little peanut head at age 1 fit well and it still fits him with lots of room now that he's 2. It says 48-51cm inside. I hope you find one!

Speaking of which . . . Bubba just took a bunch of pictures of me (so the same body you see in the previous pix) in the sizing samples of the comfy thermal jacket, the wind jacket and the wind vest. I put the unisex sizes in the description as I am wearing a small in some pictures and a medium in others. Remember, these are samples only so the AV logo and jersey design will be on the real thing (sorry for the confusion, snap).

These are unisex sizes so the hips will be snug but the jackets don't seem to ride up because of the gusseting at the bottom. I removed the elastic from my windvest last year and really like how it fits, no flapping annoyingly.

Speaking of surviving the ride ... How are you doing after that crash yesterday? And how's the old guy you tangled with doing?

Oh, and one thing I should have protested against right away ... You are NOT clumsy! Or at least, you're a lot less clumsy than I am. I can barely pick my way shakily around an ice rink. You, on the other hand, landed an axel and a double salcow with a torn ligament in your landing-side knee! Not typical of people categorized as clumsy.

Speaking of surviving the ride ... How are you doing after that crash yesterday? And how's the old guy you tangled with doing?

I'm fine, just a few big bruises. Haven't heard anything from the old guy. And I am clumsy. I may have landed an axel as some point, but I can still walk into tables on a daily basis, or door frames or anything else stationary that has a tendency to jump out at me.

Don't have the number right now, due to a database "problem" . I should have something by tomorrow night. I know we've met minimum for short sleeved, and I think we may have met it for longsleeve/arm warmers.

Does that include our 3 LS items that I haven't ordered yet? Of course, I'll be the last one to accomplish this but then I'm special.:p

With the additional 3 long sleeve - does that put the arm warmer/long sleeve category over the 25 needed???????

I'm so impressed with the TE ladies for buying so many jerseys and such! That's support! Wow!

>Soffio crema veloce literally means a breath or breeze of fast cream.

I'm back from Ohio! Decision time is upon us (me. Decision time has come and gone for most of you.) I am getting the wind shell jacket. I would also like a sleeveless jersey. So here's the question:

Is there a "womens' club jersey" option for sleeveless? I see only "race" in the womens' category. As I am amply supplied with fuel storage (fat) around my hips and belly, I want a looser option.

Those of you who know the fit...should I get the sleeveless men's club jersey instead?

Thanks for your help.

Lise

Cindy can tell you about the Men's jersey fit. The men's race will have even tigheter elastic than the men's club, but it will also be a bit shorter.

The women's club cut is only available in the short sleeve jersey. I personally have removed the elastic from the women's race cut jerseys and re-hemmed with great success. Nice fit, looks good (I think :p). If you look at the pics of me in the LRRH new feed thread you'll see me in a sleeveless race cut with the elastic removed.

I ordered 1 ls jersey. If we reorder again next year, can we do this early in the spring so I can receive it for our ever-so-short summer here? Just a thought...:p Can't wait to get this one!

mtbdarby, just a guess, but I think it is a really long shot that there will be a 2nd re-order. Of course, I was blown away with the number that was ordered the first time around so I could be wrong but I'd guess this will be the last opportunity.

SK, so I'm gonna have to keep shopping is what I hear? I'm torn between the M and L on the SS club cut. I'm 5'6", 155 and a 36A on top with a 31" waist. Any ideas? I have big arms so I'm leaning toward a large, what do you think?

Dita, have you collected all the sizing comments and updated the list??? Yes???? :)

 Better get onto that, eh? What's the deal with overseas postage? Do I paypal that to y'all separately once you know what it's going to cost?

Cheers for the armwarmer sizing help jobob. Although, with the current London temps, I'm suddenly more interested in sleeveless... Nevermind, this sunny, high twenties stuff will never last.

I'm going to post this here, in it's own thread, and over at BJ.

There is no Women's Long Sleeve Club Cut jersey, only Race Cut. Longsleeve club cut is only available in Men's. If you have ordered a women's LS club cut, I'm entering the order as the race cut.

Please let me know if you need to change your order in any way.

Email me directly: snapdragen at yahoo dot com, or PM me here at TE.

Changes must be in before Thursday!

Hey, ladies!

My friend Dawna took this one when we all went for a ride together last month. That's me and my DH of 18 years on part of the Test of Metal course in Squamish.

Since that race is on Saturday, and in 2 more sleeps from now (Wednesday) we'll be moving into our new house in Vernon, and he'll have quit his job to go to school to become a plumber, we aren't doing the race. On the other hand, we'll finally get on our bikes in a serious way, now that four months of living apart has nearly come to an end! YAY!

Happy riding everyone!

I'm not sure I was clear on this - the postage for international orders will be $8 per item.

So - ss jerseys will be $70.50, ls jersey $92.00, armwarmers $37.00 etc.
